"No hot water for a shower-ran the water for 10 minutes!
Room was shabby-power outlets were dirty
Beds were comfortable and it was quiet.
Needs a real fresh up "
"The property had no kitchen facilities - 2 wine glasses, 2 glasses and 2 cups plus a kettle. No plates or cutlery. Very tired decor and the shower door didn’t shut properly. It was a clean room and comfortable bed."
"Staff were terrible, room was so noisy from the pool lines running under the room. Sounded like bubbling pipes. Called reception and after some convincing they changed our room, which wasn’t much better. They said we’d have to wait for the manager to bring us some keys for the room. That never happend, no we had no keys and couldn’t lock or unlock our room. The rooms havnt been updated since it was built in the 60s
Rooms are out dated and uncomfortable, and are sprayed with far too much air freshener. Your money is better spent elsewhere. "
"I enjoyed my stay, coming here to participate in the Ironman event. I found the staff to be very friendly and professional, particularly Mable and Richard. Mable always greeted me by name. The room was clean and spacious. Great facilities, tennis courts and a fabulous pool. I dined twice at the hotel restaurant and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. Richard the restaurant manager was very efficient and professional. Thanks for your hospitality, I will certainly be back! Thank you for making my weekend so special. "
"Air conditioning good. Bathroom.ckean but very dated and very small. Bed good. Toom small. Should be complimentary water in the fridge. Didn't use bar. Breakfast was good. Was not happy to pay for valet parking even though the valet service was good. "
"The location right on the lake is excellent and makes it very easy to get around Taupō on foot. You can walk into town, along the lakefront, and to restaurants without needing the car, which was a big plus.
The hotel itself is quite faceless, but that’s probably expected as it mainly operates as a conference venue. The rooms were fine — nothing special — but they were clean and tidy, which is what really matters.
If you look a bit closer, parts of the exterior feel slightly run down and could probably do with some attention. One thing that stood out was the lack of visible recycling or sustainability efforts. For a place like Taupō, which promotes a clean, green, nature-focused image this felt disappointing.
The attached restaurant was okay, but again nothing particularly memorable. We found it better to walk into town and eat at the smaller independent restaurants, which had tastier food and more character.
Overall a convenient place to stay, mainly because of the location, but fairly average in most other respects."
