London caters for every type of traveler from budget backpackers to high-brow hunters. Choose from a wide selection of stays, from classic British hotels to quirky boutiques, inexpensive hostels to serviced apartments. Whatever you decide upon, however, you aren’t likely to spend much time locked up indoors as London’s busy streets will beckon you away. Recommended accommodation include the The Kensington Close Hotel, Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington and Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington.

Sightseeing near Kensington

- Kensington Palace

The most famous attraction in Kensington Gardens is without a doubt Kensington Palace, the former home of Princess Diana and the birthplace of Queen Victoria. The red brick palace was originally built in 1605 as a mansion by the Earl of Nottingham. It became a palace in 1689 when it was bought by King William III. Today the palace is still a royal residence - prince William and Kate Middleton live here - but you can visit parts of the palace, including the Queen's apartments and the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection.

Transportation near Kensington

In the city the best way to travel is by the Tube as its inner city stations are close to the majority of London’s attractions. London’s famous black cabs are convenient but expensive, and bus travel, although comprehensive, is slow due to overcrowded roads. Self-drive isn’t recommended due to the congestion charge, the expense of parking and the city’s day-long heavy traffic.
