Exceptional 10.0
This property is above and beyond great! The checkin, service and everything was top notch! I dropped an earring (very expensive solitaire) in the sink, the colleague at the front desk was quick to respond and try to retrieve it! She was able to but assured us she would have maintenance try the next morning. After we left the room for our day, we told the friend at the front desk that we were headed out, within 30 min of leaving she called to tell me that they retrieved the diamond and told me “rest assured it’s safe, so go enjoy your day!”, I was so happy to hear it.

Exceptional 10.0
This boutique was exactly what we were looking for — a great neighborhood within steps to the Seine, restaurants and shops, and the subway, typical French-style windows that open to a mixed residential/commercial street, clean, relatively roomy, and updated bathroom. We felt like we were in a small Parisian apartment rather than a hotel. Although perfect for us, it may not be for everyone, namely: 1. Our room (23) was a tiny room with little closet space, although there were two or three shelves that more than met our needs; 2. Only a handheld faucet in the bathtub, no stand up shower; 3. We had to occasionally remind the front desk for toilet paper, change of towels, water, but the front desk was very responsive so no big deal to us; 4. There are only 20 or so rooms in the hotel so don’t expect a doorman; however, the people at the front desk were great and accommodating; 5. I don’t think we were able to control the thermostat in the room (even though it deceptively seemed like we were able to) and it was freezing one night, but again, once we let the front desk know, the room was instantly heated; 6. There was definitely street noise at all hours of the day, but we loved being part of the city - I could imagine it bothering some though; 7. We didn’t try the breakfast but there were several bakeries and cafes within a block of the hotel where one could purchase pastries and orange juice, as well as grocery stores w/ fresh fruit. Overall, perfect stay for a long weekend!

Very good 8.0
Lovely hotel
The location is in the heart of the Marais which is very convenient and close to the seine river and the Louvre. The street was not the best because they are doing extensive construction on one of the buildings and there is scaffolding and equipment everywhere. However, the Charles V hotel is very nice. Our room was very clean and updated and the bed was comfortable however the room was small. There was barely any room to move around inside. I guess that is to be expected in the heart of Paris. The staff was wonderful. They were very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a great place to stay.

Fair 4.0
Upon arriving to the hotel, we were politely checked in, hours before the technical check-in time, a relief, as we'd arrived to Paris very early. The lobby was well decorated, clean, and inviting. The basic rooms are SMALL, people, even by Parisian standards, but for the price, not unacceptable. We were two women traveling together, and the luggage took up most of the walking space in the room-two suitcases. The decor in the room was GREAT. It was beyond chic with expensive draperies, wall coverings and wood floors. All these trimmings are very expensive and rarely found at a property of this size and price. If you're like me, and form is as important as function- this is a find. UPSIDES: Friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, well-located, great amenities. The decor is very well-done. Housekeeping (although they scolded me and gave me the eye once for leaving my room late), are EXCELLENT. It's hard not to make a mess of a teeny room quickly, but this team of ladies do magic every day, leaving the room looking brand new. DOWNSIDES: Being in a new property is great, but a still-under-construction property means NOISY. Every morning at 8 AM on came the saws, drills, hammering and talking. Wood floors don't have sound-proofing so your neighbors hear your steps and you theirs. Horrible smell coming from pipes. Unbearable in a tiny room. Did not offer to move us, and poured drain opener and bleach. We couldn't breathe!

Good 6.0
The room was spacious and luxurious, but we had trouble with the heat and the bathroom. We had difficulty sleeping because we could not sufficiently reduce the heat. We ended up sleeping without the duvet, which is all there was. No top sheet or other blanket. The shower was broken. There was a missing hose feature. The button to adjust the shower temperature wasn’t working resulting in our jumping in and out of the shower to avoid being scalded. The above being said, we enjoyed the location, the size of the room, and the staff were friendly and informative. I really wanted to like this hotel, but we were uncomfortable.
