a stop between trains
Thiw was a one night stay between trains. we checked in mid evening and left mid morning. there were a few restaurants around but nor much really unless you used the metro to go into better known areas of town. the hotel was a typical compact Paris hotel with the breakfast room downstairs in the cellar. the breakfast was excellent with fresh coffee French style and fresh bread and Croissant. the one poor thing here was the shower unit which was tiny.

Close to Pernety Station
Rooms are quite small but clean, breakfast is incredibly good, and I do mean INCREDIBLY. The girl who checked us in was nice and polite, there's a Metro station 2 blocks away so moving around shouldn't be a issue. Had a problem the day we were checking out with the man at the front desk though... Here's what happened: The night before we sent an email asking the front desk staff if the airport shuttle (previously arranged) could pick us up later so we could have breakfast, we received a call from the staff saying that it was not possible HOWEVER he was able to provide us breakfast 15 min before (6:15 am) pick up (6:30am) so we could at least eat something before heading to the next city. At this point we were amazed by the willingness to help. Surprise surprise, went down by 6:10 to wait for breakfast and the man (staff) said it wasn't ready and to please provide more time, went up and 7 minutes after received another call saying that our pick up had arrived and we needed to go. Asked the front desk guy about breakfast and said "Sorry, no time", asked again why was the pick up even more early if we were promised to have breakfast before and he kept saying the same and didn't even look at us while talking. If by any chance breakfast before 7 am was not possible it's OK, we get and respect that, BUT DON'T LIE ABOUT IT and then treat us is a demeaning way. Shame on that guy.

Great location and great hotel staff
The room is very clean and modern looking. Loved it! The bathroom is nice and big, and really clean; although the room is small my husband and I didn't have any issues at all. The hotel staff are great especially Aurelie. She is very accommodating and has excellent customer service skills! She was very helpful to me when I asked her about a cellphone charger adaptor. She let me borrow the adaptor at no charge during my stay at the hotel. The hotel is very close to Pernety Metro Station which made it a lot easier for me and my husband to go around the city. There's a lot of shops and restaurants around the area. My husband and I used to walk in the evening for dinner and sight seeing. I loved the free croissant and juice at the hotel lobby in the afternoon after a very tiring day, the hotel ambiance is very welcoming! Aurelie offered us a shuttle to go to airport at €36 only, its a private service that takes us to the airport in 30 mins compared to Le Direct Bus which takes longer time to reach the airport @€34. Overall our stay in the Hotel Apollon Montparnasse is a very pleasant one and will come back again in the future! Great location and service. Thanks to the staff especially to Aurelie!

Exceptional 10.0
We were given a lovely room on the top floor with enough room to store two suitcases; lots of storage/clothes space; a window that opened to the street for fresh air; a lovely little fridge; a very comfortable bed; excellent television; a desk; and a compact but well-stocked bathroom with lovely toiletries generously replenished daily. To our surprise the evening manager asked us if we would prefer a larger room as one was available but we were happily settled in and found the room perfect for 5 nights. The breakfast was excellent value and of high quality in a charming basement room. The staff were very helpful, though we have been to Paris over 80 times so needed less help than some guests but we noticed an amazing folder they have compiled with how to get to all the places worth visiting in Paris. Free newspapers also provided. The area is SUPERB. It is near a favourite of ours RUE RAYMOND LOSSERAND with a nice creperie; fine pizzeria and one of the best butter shops in all Paris. PERNETY metro is very very near and it is a short walk to a useful bus route to get to Luxembourg Gardens. It was only 45 minutes to get all the way out to the PHILHARMONIE (concerts being a main reason to visit Paris for us). I hope to return to this friendly hotel which is superb value for money.

Exceptional 10.0
The hotel was very conveniently located to a Metro stop (r. Pernety), making it easy to access anything in Paris while staying in a quieter district. Though quiet, there was still a great deal to do. Several cafes right on the corner offer a variety of food and drink options. My room sat on the ground floor, and despite this, it was very quiet, even with activity on the street. (I even slept one night with the window open and was not disturbed by outside noise.) The room is small by U.S. standards. This is not a complaint; just an observation for American travelers who may not have gone abroad before. Of course, the point is to go to Paris and NOT spend all your time in the room. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast is available in the morning, and highly recommended - there was a good variety of items available, with friendly service, and the breakfast area is very quaint (it's like a stone cellar). The desk staff are very friendly, and available 24/7.
