This is a great location if you're interested in sites west of Rapid City - you avoid the traffic of Rapid City and are 15-20 closer to Custer park, Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse. Rockerville is a tiny town, that lost a lot when Highway 16 bypassed it, but this hotel is there and one nearby bar/restaurant, "The Gaslight" across the street which is very good. The only big alert to lodgers is that the photo in the posting is the old, main building with a bunch of rooms and the office. But most of the rooms are across the westbound lanes of Highway 16, and it's a couple of minute drive to get on Hwy 16 and quickly cross traffic and make the turn. It is walkable, too, but you have to walk up the entrance ramp to Hwy 16 and then cross the westbound lanes. The other negative is that the office is closed from 10PM to 7AM. The office has a few convenience items to purchase like beer and soda and nuts, but get them before 10PM. We were there as part of a group and one room was in the old building, and the other across the highway. The room was very clean and everything important worked well - lights, hot water, drains. The only negative with housekeeping was that they supply paper coffee cups and they didn't replace them 2 of the 3 mornings we were there....had to wait until 7:AM to go to the office to get some. We would definitely stay here again.
