    Profile: Bur Dubai

    Profile: Bur Dubai

Bur Dubai, sitting on the western bank of Dubai Creek just north of Downtown Dubai, is a sprawling neighborhood full of the fragrant aromas of spices and the calls of street traders. The multi-domed Grand Mosque—with its towering 230-foot minaret—is the center of religious life in the city.

Dubai Museum, housed in the oldest building in Dubai, Al Fahidi Fort, allows a fascinating insight into life in the Emirate before the discovery of oil. Continue your journey through time in the neighboring Bastakiya District as you wander through souks—open-air marketplaces where textiles, spices, and foods are sold.

      Old memories

It was amazing for my family they have enjoyed it lot and I recalled my old days of merchant navy. After almost 40 years I board a ship but no sailing. Any how it was very interesting and enjoyed. Some technical advice is that improve water pressure for shower.

      Event attendance

The room was excellent, staff were great but the bars (acknowledging covid regs) should have been open much earlier for event I was attending. Aside from Pavillion restaurant, all other communal areas appeared closed.

It is fabulous to see and experience such a magnificent piece of British history but sadly all the good facilties are currently closed. Food at The Pavilion for dinner is limited in choice but quality was fine. Breakfast service was petty slow and again limited choice. For anyone unaware of the ongoing major roadworks close by, this can be quite disruptive to your sleep if you have a cabin on the city side, unfortunately there were jack hammers going 24/7 during our stay.

      “off limits” QE2

I was a regular at this hotel having stayed four times Previously, but I won’t be staying again. What I liked about the hotel was the quirkiness and the history. A lot of the hotel is off limits it would seem, in some places there are signs to say no access and in others there are not. I visited the golden lion pub which the hotel boosts about on website, but with my visit to this floor I was harassed by security and than told off by a manager like I was some school boy. After which I seem to have had security follow me around the hotel. I am a international traveller and I stay around 90 nights a year in hotels this is the first time I felt I really needed to leave a bad review as it’s not something I would do. The hotel is very much out the way and it’s one redeeming Quality is the hotels history which now seems to be off limits. Very very disappointed in the hotel and it’s staff and how they spoke to me and treated me. I will be in touch with the management team and the owners with regards to my stay. Thanks for reading.

      Pleasant and Peaceful stay

I stayed for two nights, captains room with balcony (sea view). The view was awesome and room was very spacious and clean. I enjoyed my time on this historic ship. Please note that the hotel is still under renovation therefore it would be great if you could plan for some activities externally.

It's a great draw and the ship itself is very impressive. However, food's passable - nothing great, and the cabin didn't make for a good night's sleep. The bed was not very comfortable and pillows were hard and too big, and the air conditioning troubled us a fair bit between 3 and 6 in the morning ...
