The comfiest beds I've ever slept in
I cannot wait to come back to Reykjavik and stay at the Ion City Hotel again! What an absolute gem of a hotel. It was extremely cozy with a wonderful ambiance, plus it's so central to downtown! We were easily able to make the most of our time in the city (one evening and most of the next day). Everyone we met on the front desk was super lovely and helpful and we were able to leave our bags with them on our final afternoon in the city. Just for anyone else who gets lost trying to find the hotel though - search for Sumac (the restaurant) on google and it's much easier to find than the hotel, which is not v well signed and was very easy to walk right past. Also I was perhaps slightly sad that there wasn't a hot tub or pool (for some reason I'd convinced myself there was - but perhaps I was thinking of the Adventure hotel out in Thingvellir - which also looks fantastic but we discovered is incredibly remote). But given this was my head making things up, I really can't hold it against them! Finally, there's parking on the streets around the hotel so if you're driving as part of your holiday, this is super easy to sort out!

Almost Perfect.
Marvelous design and view. Staff was kind and attentive. Housekeeping needs to check under couch cushions as it looks as if it hadn’t been vacuumed out in years, and one of our tea service spoons was filthy. Early morning construction happening below the room. Future guests may want to inquire about possible construction sound disruptions.

Hotel was difficult to find due to lack of signage and oddly placed entrance. There was no breakfast available. Otherwise, this was a comfortable and well-appointed hotel located in the center of town with easy walking access to shops and restaurants.

A bit difficult to find the entrance. It was advertised that hotel parking was included and available, however it is not, which was inconvenient. Otherwise, had a wonderful stay. Staff were always available and kind. Room was quite spacious and modern. Centrally located with everything within a short walking distance. Highly recommend.
