Not as good as the reviews make it
Not a good first impression of the hotel. After seeing such wonderful reviews I was completely taken back when they told me they were sold out for the night and even though I booked through Hotels.com my reservation was nowhere to be found. I was told to call Hotels.com and have them call the Dominick manager on duty to see if they could figure something out. I did, with my son who was asleep on the lobby couch after flying 6 hours to get to NYC. No resolution was found for over an hour. All this time the manager never once came out to talk. I noticed a gentleman upset at the front desk and he’s going through the exact same thing. He found out that they left their bookings open and just overbooked us both. He also noted at how rude the manager was. After waiting around a lady working the front desk waves to have me come up since we had been waiting around forever. She quietly tells me she will get me in a room since my son needed somewhere to sleep. All said and done got a room, finally after much stress. Had booked a city view room and was starting at a construction wall instead. Will never book again at this hotel due to this experience.

Not a 5 star hotel
I was excited to book a stay with SoHi views at the Dominick. I waited in line to get checked in which took 15 minutes BEFORE I could speak to someone to check in. The woman who was available to check me in said "Next person in line." No "Hi" or "How are you." I had to ask how she was so she can ask me. I was extremely disappointed when I entered the room since the views were of Hudson. I called up the operator who tried to get in contact with reception but did not answer. I was told that I would be contacted back which I never was after waiting 10 minutes. I called up the operator again and stated my concerns about the room and the operator was able to patch me through to the front desk. I explained that I was expecting the SoHi views from the pictures of that specific room type on Hotels.com. The woman from front desk said she would have new keys delivered to me. After 20 minutes went by I called the operator again who patched me in to the front desk. She apologized and said she did not know what happened. I told her she should've just had me come downstairs to get the new keys. The delays involved to resolve the issue caused a lot of frustration and time spent. I still feel like how the situation was handled did not create a positive defining moment because the 2nd room they gave me was the room with the views that I originally booked for.

Exceptional 10.0
Amazing hotel! Look no farther.
This hotel is simply amazing From the moment you arrive with the bellman personally walking you to the front fast until the moment you leave with them helping you with your luggage the attention to detail is impeccable. Housekeeping is amazing, keeping our room perfect even folding my kids clothes and blankets Once again the attention to detail, even setting a water & chocolate at the crib during turndown Theysupplied us with extra toiletries from the get go and had everything that I had asked for over the phone in my room upon arrival. The milk&cookie arrival gift for my children was especially nice and they loved it. It was nice that the hotel provided my toddler with bedding and toiletries so I did not have to bring that along with me. They answered all questions and recommended great restaurants to eat at. During our last night stay my littlest one woke up at 2am with a fever I called down to the front desk they immediately sent a bellman out to the nearest drugstoreAnd he promptly arrived back with medication and delivered it to my room for me. After I received it security called backup to my room and asked if she was OK they give me the address for the nearest clinic and also the phone number for the in house doctor. They were always happy to help and never seemed bothered by all of the thing with that I needed, I believe in top notch hospitality and servive and they exceeded my expectations( which is very hard to do) our room was 4007 with a view that is to die for!

Exceptional 10.0
The best hotel in New York
My experience at the Dominick was truly magical. The hotel was beautiful. The room was in perfect condition and the views were stunning. We were there for 4th of July and were able to see fireworks from so many different areas of New York. It was incredible. The front door staff was helpful, gave us directions and hailed us cabs quickly. I enjoyed calling room service because they were also very professional and fast. The Spa team was just as amazing. They checked me in quickly, scheduled me a massage session, and gave me helpful advice on skin care products that I am still enjoying here in CA. It’s like I took a little piece of New York home with me. I highly recommend this hotel. It is close to the water, subways, shopping, and so many great restaurants. One of our favorite places was called Blue Ribbon. That place is open late, has the best comfort food, and the service was the best! This trip was by far the best and staying at the Dominick had a lot to do with that. Thank you so much Dominick staff. You made us feel special and very well taken care of. You guys are number 1!! We will be back soon.

Very good 8.0
I’ve stayed at this hotel over 12 times, from regular rooms, suites to the penthouses. This was the first time staying when the hotel changed its name to The Dominick. I always loved the decor, views and the service. However, it feels like not only the name changed. Even though I recognized a lot of the faces (and their service remained the same) a lot of new faces just didn’t seem very good. I stayed in a suite this time and the AC didnt seem to be working well- sometimes it was too hot and sometimes it was too cold, the temperature never corresponded to the set temperature. When we called the front desk and addressed this issue, nobody came upstairs to fix it. Another thing I’d mention is a poor quality of towels and the fact that their body care line is made in China (at The Trump Soho they had either Aqua di Parma or their own line). The last thing I noticed was that the Koi restaurant downstairs was replaced by a restaurant with American cuisine and there was NO-one for lunch, even the hostess said that happens a lot (must not be very good then). I still love the location and the views but would consider looking for another hotel in SoHo the next time.
