Needs mores staff and lots of TLC
Our room had no heating on for the three nights we were staying, which meant at night, it was pretty darn cold. And we're from Scotland, so we know what cold is. The bathroom was dingy, with a toilet seat that was neither the right size, nor fitted properly! The shower cubicle had not been properly cleaned for some time! The beds were so uncomfortable that one of us actually slept on the couch! The bedding (specifically duvets) didn't fit the covers and the whole place needed some work. Shame because the food was great, and the too few staff that they had were friendly, just not enough of them. The actual building could be (and I dare say once was) a stunner, but needs a lot of work done to it. Oh, and unless you're a keen walker, it's about a tenner a time in taxis to town. If you are, it's about a fifteen minute walk to Iffley Road, where you can pick up the buses into town. It's a beautiful city, and we loved visiting, we were just disappointed with the standard of the hotel. Could do much better.

The Hotel is very, very dilapidated as it's quite old, but that does have it's charm, although it might be very damp in the winter as the radiator in our room for instance was only turned on in the evening? My cousin also got locked in her room as the old lock was broken. There are a lot of things that could be fixed. On the positive side the Staff are very friendly, the food is excellent, the rooms are clean, they are definitely making an effort to make your stay enjoyable. They have very good wifi, free parking, free breakfast and the area is really beautiful. Think 'old family hotel' and not 'ultra modern' and you will have a sense of what its' like?

Inexpensive stay in Oxford
I needed a one night stay in Oxford and this was somewhere inexpensive. (You do receive what you pay for.) The Staff were Ok, but I didn't really have much interaction with them during my brief stay. The room looked clean but tired. The bath room had tiles missing. I needed to leave before breakfast was available in the morning, so I have no idea about the standard provided. Unfortunately for me there was a party that evening downstairs with a live band. Not conducive to sleep. There was parking available on- site.

Exceptional 10.0
Charming Village Atmosphere
Located only 20 minutes away from the center of Oxford by a 10-minute walk to the bus, It was 15 minutes to a lovely Norman church and the locks. One could also walk to Oxford on a path following the river. Rooms are above a pub, but I did not experience any noise. The pub and restaurant food were excellent. Portions large enough for two. There was a formal restaurant and the pub which was good for people watching. The shower was excellent as it adjusted for size.

A bit tired
This must have been a lovely place at one time but it does need refurbishment. The en suite shower room had wallpaper hanging off the wall and black mould on the ceiling, however, the shower itself was great with constant temperature and quite powerful. It all just looks a bit tired but it was good value for the money really.
