Amazing view, steep way up
The place is beautiful and with a gorgeous view. Beware that there is a poorly paved, 50-metre steep road and there LOTS of stairs, rustic, stone steps. Consider this if you have a roller bag (especially if it us a big one). So it will be better if you have a back pack or similar. The room is spacious and cute, the view is phenomenal. I loved everything about this place, just make sure to do your cardio before hitting the stairs! LOL

Dont stay here
When we first saw this accommodation on hotels.com we thought wow - very different and an interesting place to stay for the 4 nights we were in Labuan Bajo. We arrived late pm and in the rain and we were dropped off by taxi at the bottom of a very steep hill. We found that the only access to the accommodation was to more or less climb up steep inclines and steps. We were backpacking but still had 2 heavy bags, 12kg camera bag and pull along bag. This is a pre warning to anyone not of a certain fitness level, or with any mobility issues to please please avoid. The steps are extremely steep and in wet weather - which there is a lot of in Indonesia - made it treacherous. The so called hand rails are falling apart and useless. The whole place needs a total refurbishment to bring it even in line with some sort of health and safety. Our room was basic and comfortable and we are used to staying in places like this, however the bathroom was the pits. Many of the roof tiles needed replacing as rain water soaked the toilet and we had to sit on the loo in the wet. The shower is at best luke warm. The rustic wooden furniture in the room is quaint but on closer inspection is basically falling apart or damaged. There are no locks on the doors and you have to use a wooden peg and a travelling padlock to secure the door, which didnt fully shut anyway. The breakfast is terrible just offering a pancake and a drink and nothing else. Overall we were very very disappointed.

2/10 Poor

A horror that’s worth maximum 5 USD/night
Pictures may look good, but the place has not been taken care of for a long time, the bathroom is outside covered in ants and full of bugs, no privacy, water everywhere, mold everywhere. Hot water boiler didn’t work and maybe unsafe (not hot enough to kill bacteria). Pillows were stained with blood or something else, mattress also. The mosquito net was covered in animal droppings. AC was barely working, the room was dusty and dirty in general. WiFi does not work. Breakfast was made in an abandoned shack, picking into the kitchen made me sick, does not follow any western standard or common sense. Location on the hill is nice for the view, beside too close from a prayer tower that blast for 40min at 4am praying calls. The way to the so called hotel is in a poor area of town, dirty and non paved road. Another villa was on construction and loud work started before 8am.

6/10 Good

Great views, unique rooms, but service lacking
We arrived in the pouring rain and it was a bit of a hike from the road up some steep, uneven steps to get to the property. The hotel is set in a beautiful garden with an absolutely breathtaking view of the bay. The front desk person was kind but spoke limited English. He showed us to our room, which was charming and unique, great for a romantic getaway. Everything, down to the wooden door locks, is homemade. It is built into the hill, meaning boulders and tree branches are inside the room! It also means the room is not completely sealed, and bugs and geckos can get in. They have a beautiful mosquito net covering the bed, which we made use of and didn’t have any problem. We also enjoyed the open air bathroom with hot water- it was nice to shower with a beautiful view of the bay. Using the toilet at night or in the rain is a bit uncomfortable, though! Also, privacy is limited due to lots of windows and thin curtains that don’t exactly connect. The service was quite lacking- it was hard to find someone at the front desk or restaurant when we needed something. The English was very limited, meaning we pulled out google translate a lot. This place is NOT SUITABLE for anyone with mobility limitations, and I would be fearful of having small children here due to the lack of railings around the property. But, if you’re looking for a peaceful setting with a very beautiful, unique room, this may be for you!
