Cool hotel!!!
Such a cool hotel! Old building completely updated with mid century modern touches. Wish the hotel had been upfront about closure of rooftop patio and restaurant. Most shops nearby only open seasonally so wasn’t much for us to do. Parking is a bit of a hassle but the service was amazing and really large rooms made it worth it.

Great Spot
Had a great stay. Nice and quiet and in the heart of Salem. I loved the hospitality center right outside our rooms

Spot in Salem
Good place and good location. Pillows weren’t that comfortable though.

Year three, planning for year four!
This is our third year in a row staying at the Hotel Salem during the Hawthorne Ball weekend and we love it there. While we tend to get the suite for the "feel" of more space, there are some quirky things with it that might make us switch to one of the double rooms again in the future. The split water closet/shower-sink area is odd and there's a strange "universal" light switch which you have to turn on in order to have lights in the bathroom but which, consequently, wakes everyone on the ground level. Overall though, the hotel staff is always fantastic, the rooms are clean and up to date. There are enough amenities that you don't have to feel the "need" to carry all of your shower toiletries with you when you come. I would highly advise staying at this location which is perfectly situated right in the middle of lots of great things!

Nice but not perfect
Nice boutique hotel, great location, but several issues with the room itself.

Small room, but good value.
I spent two nights in this hotel. The location is fantastic, literally right in the middle of the main pedestrian area in downtown Salem. However, the room was incredibly small. It was one of the few rooms available in Salem that weekend for under $200 a night, so I guess I was getting what I paid for. But, the room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and what small about of time I spent in the room I enjoyed.

Disappointing but great location.
The rooms are very small and not very comfortable, whoever takes the pics on the website should receive medal becuase they are not nearly as nice. Our bathroom had a huge stain/hole in the ceiling and overall the room was not very comfortable. The staff at the front desk were mostly ok, but there were several times we would come in from outside and the staff would be hanging out at one of the restaurant tables having food/drinks together and would be visibly annoyed that they’d need to go to work. The upsides were that the hotel is perfectly located near everything and we had a wonderful time walking to all the attractions we wanted to see.

Cool hotel in the heart of Salem activities/shops
Cool place. Right on Essex street.....across from a cvs! Walk out in the am and your in the middle of all the Salem action!! Loading and unloading suitcases is annoying cause it doesn’t have parking but if you call ahead they’ll be able to direct you. Parking garage worked for me but there is also municipal parking etc that is close.

Great stay!
Check in was quick and easy. Our room was upgraded from micro king to king ada. The room was nice and clean and the bed was super comfortable. The roof top restaurant was super cool— it was chilly while we were traveling and the bar offered blankets! The hotel was in the middle of everything. We were able to park our car (5 blocks away) and walk everywhere. It was raining part of our stay, the hotel offered huge umbrellas to borrow for no extra cost which was amazing. Overall a great experience. Would definitely return !

Good location and stylish.
Central hotel but has no parking. There are places nearby which require a daily rate or feeding a meter. The hotel is modern and we liked the decor. It has a rooftop bar which is open till the end of October but it isn’t heated. We found our room a bit more style over substance. You have to get out of bed to switch the bedside lamps off. The blinds didn’t work. The staff were nice and helpful.
