one night business trip to Austin
Hotel is new and extremely well done, as one would expect from a Fairmont Hotel. Rooms were extremely comfortable and well equipped. The front desk was very courteous and efficient. The location is on the edge of downtown but fine if you have a car or don't mind walking. Right next to the Convention center and connected by a foot bridge. $45 a night for valeting a car was a bit high especially in Austin Texas. New York City, OK but Austin. Too High. Self park was $32. The Bar was very well laid out and extremely busy the night I was there. They have live music in the vein of Bob Wells and the Texas Playboys but with only guitar's. The sound was MUCH to Loud. I requested of my server that he ask that the Music volume be turned down. He came back and advised that his request had been denied. I told him I wanted to see the Bar Manager. I spoke with her and ask why she had refused to turn the volume down as it was so loud that no one could hear each other talk. she finally relented and went over and requested that the Musicians turn the speakers down. They did and it was so much more pleasurable. The music was very nice but when it hurts your ears it does not matter. The drinks were good, my guest were now happy that we could talk and all was good. Check out was a pleasure especially with the nice touch of being offered a bottle of cold water before getting into the car. Other than the unfortunate encounter with the Bar Manager all was well.

Fantastic Brand New Hotel
We stayed here June 6-9 and loved this new hotel. It opened first week of March, and our room was exceptional, very clean, and everything was in great working order. Nespresso coffee maker in room, complimentary pods. The quality of the mattress was exceptional, and the pillows and sheets were top notch. Too bad bottle of Fiji water $8.50! We therefore brought our own water. We stayed on the 36th floor, and the views were incredible. The gym is clean, huge and with brand new equipment. Cold fresh water available, and apples. The pool was also fantastic, it is located on the 6th floor, and the views are wonderful. The staff were over the top friendly and eager to make your experience a positive one. Kudos to Brandon and Stephanie at the front desk, Peter at the Bell desk, the bar and serving staff in the lounge and the team at Garrison's. We had dinner there one night, and it was amazing. Only suggestions would be to put some grips on the ladder handles on the pool, the way it is angled when you climb out is sure to cause a spill, especially when people have had lotion on their hands. Also, more staff needed to serve at the pool. The morning shift did not start until 11am one Thursday, and lots of folks skip breakfast and need something around that time. We also had an issue with the elevators, but we were able to work around that by having staff take us up and down the service elevators. Also thanks to to UPS office staff.

Good 6.0
Beautiful property, however it was so pretentious, they nickle and dime absolutely everything that I would never stay here again. No where could I just find a normal sandwich that didnt have capers in it. Hamburger/fries and a coke at the restaraunt was over $53 for 2 people, and the french fries looked like McDonald's fries! They would not allow us to order a pizza from the Italian place to take to our room, because "the chef doesn't like how the pizza travels up to the rooms"! I was starving, I didnt care how it "traveled"! I asked the concierge for pizza delivery options..he gave me names of the most expensive pizza places in town!! Gave up and found a Pappa John's pizza place that delivered to us. Ran out of data down there, and where we come from, hotels have free wi-fi. Here it was almost $15 a day! No salad options at any of the resturaunts. Found a sandwich at the cafe finally, was so excited to just eat a sandwich..turned out, the egg salad had capers and kale mixed in with it. How could I not just find an option for normal people? ($12 sandwich too, I might add) I know some people like steak tar tar...but there were noo options for just some normal food! I planned for an expensive trip, but this caused me to go $400 over budget just for food for 4 days for 2 people! Will NEVER go to a Fairmont hotel again. Too pretentious of a hotel in an ugly city! Pros-they call you by your name, it's clean, but you really pay for it! The benefits were NOT worth it.

Great hotel--more ups than downs
Overall, this is a great hotel. It just opened in February 2018, and it has excellent amenities and is in a great area. Let's start with the not-so-great: Self-parking is $32 per day and Valet is $40. Be prepared. In addition, there is no internet access in the rooms and the internet and phone reception with ATT is absolutely TERRIBLE in the common areas. You literally can't make calls in the bar area or lobby most of the time. Also, the doors on the floors are in terrible condition. The paint quality on all of the doors is awful. It looks and feels like chalk paint and the exterior doors look like they are from a 10 year old hotel. They could have done better. very spotty service at the pool and the drinks are super expensive. The pool is super busy on the weekends-not room for kids to swim or play. It's like Disney land for adults. There is not enough seating to accommodate the guests, and the pool area and hot tub closes at 10 PM!!! Way too early. Positives: Keurig espresso in the rooms. Hidden, but in the credenza. Absolutely beautiful finishes in the main areas with beautiful marble and stone. Live music in the lobby on the weekends and an incredible bar, pool, and gym. The design of the main floors is beautiful. The location is absolutely perfect. Near the Congress bridge and near the capital, restaurants, and bars. The staff is AMAZING! Even with its flaws, this is my go-to hotel going forward in Austin.

Still needing to work the bugs out of a new hotel
Hotel is gorgeous in appearance, love all the pops of color & the modern elegance. Rooms are large, the beds comfy, the bathrooms great size. BUT they still have bugs to work out being a new hotel! The water was cold all 3 days were there, the water pressure would wax and wane. We called down to let management know after the 1st cold shower and said they would send someone to come check it out. Day 2 still cold weak shower and we called to ask if they had figured out the problem and they said they would get back to us and never did.. so Day 3 took had the worst shower it was so cold it was hard to bring myself to even take a shower. Housekeeping came the 1st morning at 7am (we forgot to hang the do not disturb as our flight got in after midnight and we only got to bed a few hours earlier) we told them no we are sleeping! They kept knocking and asked again when can we come and clean? We said well not now as we are still in bed and its only 7am!! Day 2 they didn't even come at all or remove room trays that we called to ask to be removed the night before. The roof top pool is beautiful and makes you feel like you've gone somewhere tropical except for the brutal winds the knock over the umbrella's and blow your towels, chairs, food, drink into the pool! Service is understaffed so be prepared to wait or go get your own food/drink. Asked if they shuttle to nearby restaurant they said yes only to find out they DO NOT PICK YOU UP! Was told AT DROP OFF to walk or uber back
