The staff were amazing, very helpful. Assisted us with moving etc. The first 2 bedroom unit we were in was not cleaned well after being newly built and there was a lot of building dust not to mention windows did not have flywire to stop insects from entering the unit. I bought a mop and broom and cleaning products and spent my first night cleaning. The property was not fenced in and there were dogs that regularly barked at us when we were entering and leaving the apartment. I complained the next day after a rough nights sleep and we were moved to a 2 Bedroom unit at 29 Extension Street. This unit was on the ground floor and smelled mouldy. The AC vent was very dusty. The louvers were dusty. The unit was dark, damp, smelled bad and poorly ventilated with only one pedestal fan. The bathroom especially smelled bad. There were also cockroaches. The pans were not cleaned well and smelled bad. I wound up purchasing a frying pan. The noise from our upstairs neighbours was incredible and there was a pounding on the floor that sometimes went on well into the early hours. There is a kiosk in front of the units which adds to the noise with music playing 24hrs. The neighbourhood is noisy! It is otherwise safe, being opposite the CWM Hospital. There is a taxi stand outside the front gate. The staff came to clean daily. They should have changed our towels daily as there was no way for them to dry handing in the damp dark bathroom. Laundry service 3 x weekly was awesome.

Can I rate this 10/5? Absolutely LOVED my stay here. I am a student from Australia on a placement experience in Fiji and stayed at the Island for 4 weeks. It might not be a 5-star modern, luxurious hotel, but it is 10 stars for staff dedication, friendliness, cleanliness and flexibility. My trip to Fiji would not have been this enjoyable if I had stayed anywhere else. Every morning (including weekends!) I woke up to a fresh, delicious, home-cooked breakfast made with love by the amazing staff. My room was cleaned to an exceptional standard on a daily basis and my clothes were laundered, dried and folded DAILY! The staff are very kind, warm and welcoming, making me feel like a part of their family. They were always willing to help you out from getting an additional bed to fixing a broken air conditioner. Thank you to everyone at the Island for the amazing experience. Could not recommend this place more!
