Araya Beach Hotel Patong, Patong, Thailand
The staff (mainly non-Thai staff) were very rude. No smiles, sometimes no acknowledgement when you ask them a question. The main gripe was the ridiculous French/Arab rap music that was blared at the pool every single day at 2pm til 6pm at extreme volume. You couldn't enjoy even 1 day relaxing at the pool without this rubbish being played - & you could hear this music throughout the whole hotel. It seems like the hotel was only catering towards North Africans & didnt care about anyone else. And the bar staff at the pool wouldn't allow you to bring a bottle of water with you from the room. One of the staff members said the owners never listen to customers or staff & only want to make money. The only highlight was the poor young Thai girl who cleaned our rooms everyday. She seemed the only pleasant staff member to deal with & did an excellent job. Breakfast was lousy too with the same options everyday & very little variety & we never received the free drinks we were promised on arrival. And our room was next door to a couple of guys that played loud music all through the night & the staff were too scared to ask them to stop despite numerous complaints.

If you want to sleep at night DON'T pick here!
Can't believe other reviews did not say anything about the noise! Irish Pub attached that plays SUPER loud music from 10-2am EVERY night. I suppose if you like to go out every night this wouldn't be a problem. Staff were not friendly at all - which was different since everyone we had met in Bangkok and Chiang Mai were so incredibly nice! Couldn't get extra blanket at 6pm because housekeeping was gone. Room was clean but bed is rock hard and couch was disgusting and broken. Sliding glass door didn't lock and last day there someone was on ladder outside window with a camera! Patong Beach is VERY busy and spreads out so no matter where you pick you will be in the thick of it. Beach street very loud. Really wished we had picked a different hotel.

The worse staff ever
I walked in to a customer asking for another room. The receptionist spoke in a loud authoritative voice and said "Like I said we don't have any rooms for you to change to and no money back" That should have been a sign. When it was my turn she asked my name and gave me a paper, she said "Sign here" which is not a problem since she may speak limited English. As I proceded to read the form which had English translations, she screamed "I said sign here, just sign" I responded "I want to read...". "Just sign" she responded before I could finish my sentence. I gave her a stare of "If you don't pipe all the way down..." She was working my nerves. "I am going to read it first. Thank you" I said. I went to me room and the towel were spotty, the sheets were dingy... I was only staying the night So I decided to sleep on a scarf and just go out. On my way to eat dinner the receptionist was underneath the desk doing something so I waited. She popped her head up and said "WHAT". I tilted my head to the side in surprised, she rolled her eyes and said "How can I help you". When checking out, she looked at me and said in a normal voice "Sit down" and walked away. I just stared because I didn't know where she was going. She returned 10 min later and said room ok, no charge. When asking about a taxi to the airport which should be 800 Bhat she said she has many friends who drive taxi but because they have to get paid through the hotel it would be 1000 Bhat.
