okay, but a little unconventional
these are privately owned suites situated inside a commercial hotel, which made it a little more quirky than usual. in the bathroom, there is a sign that notes they only change the bed linens every four days unless there's a request to change them sooner. well, there was some hair (it looked like cat or dog hair) and a spot in or sheets when we got in, so we ended up sleeping on dirty linens due to coming in so late at night, and we requested new linens first thing the next morning. that was our only cleaning issue, and the bed was extremely comfortable with a plethora of pillows. there was a small safe for valuables, a nice set up for coffee and tea - we took advantage of the tea like crazy!, and yes, the owner does provide a phone for international travelers. didn't need it, since my phone company doesn't charge me extra in canada, but it was neat nonetheless. the owner was very communicative via email, at all times of day/night, except for right at the very end of our stay. we had asked about a late checkout, and were informed that the room was booked and needed cleaning. i was fine with that, but the owner mentioned being able to possibly stay until noon. that extra hour would have been great, and i responded this was the case, and then got no further messages. so, we got ourselves in order and out before 11. overall, it was a nice stay. my only advice would be to please clean linens between guests, and then let us decide if we're fine with less after that.

Good 6.0
Room had microwave, frij and coffee pot as well as plenty of utensils so you could eat in if desired. Candy bars were left each morning and there was a welcoming bottle of wine. One AC was not working, but the owner sent a YouTube video explaining how to reset the system. His reply was very timely. What needs help is the overall condition of the room. Underlying carpets are covered by area rugs because the carpet is long overdue for replacement and fraying around the bathroom doorway. Window sill in bathroom has peeling paint and curtain is filthy. Tops of cabinet doors below microwave are taped over where worn or the trim is missing. Couple of big dents/ partial hole in the wall in hallway and bedroom. At first glance, the place looks great, great view, good location, responsive manager, etc. Would have liked to give a better rating, but the place needs a serious updating for the prices charged.

Perfect and full of pleasant details
Nice room, well located and very comfortable. John is extremely nice and helpful. It is a private suite inside a hotel. Do not get mislead by personal of the hotel reception. This is the best place to stay in Vancouver.

It was a very nice room and with a window that opens. That is important to me. Lots of good hot water and a big big tub. room was quiet and well set up. Very friendly staff. Staff are very professional also. Good food downstairs. Just a perfect room for me in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
