Great staff, average everything else
Don't get me wrong, this is a great hotel. The staff were great, helpful, always happy to help with a smile. Unfortunately, the facilities overall did not have a 5 star hotel feel that I would value at AUD$300 per night. The room was good (bed was amazing) but there was dust on the bed frame, fridge, and light covers. Toiletries were excellent and met expectations. Somewhat strange having the glass window from the shower into the room and the lack of any shower door into the bathroom, as well as the naked female bodies on the hotel book, but nothing too shocking. The menu at the restaurant was amazing, unfortunately this was undermined by the bland taste across different meals and generally ingredients that did not feel fresh. For Melbourne, the coffee was below average both at the reception cafe and the restaurant. The rooftop bar was great, but again less than what you would expect - one of the heaters was not working and the waiter forgot we placed an order and asked us twice if we have ordered. Not a big issue, just not what you would expect at a 5 star hotel. The location was good, with close proximity to Chinatown and within 10 min walking of a number of good restaurants. A great cigar shop at the Grand Hyatt is only 5 minutes away walking. So overall, happy with the stay, but would have been happier if this were a 4 star hotel and valued at around $200 for the room per night.

Quirky and funky hotel with style.
QT is a quirky hotel, with a very cool vibe. Starting with the KING CORNER ROOM … we stayed on Level 5 and got woken 2 nights in a row with loud people outside. Stay higher if possible. Room itself was very comfortable. The bed is amazing to sleep on. Perfect nights sleep until the late night crowd come past. The room also has a large bath near the middle of the room. We didn't use it, but if you like baths, then this is the room for you. The Rooftop Bar is great! You have to get there before 5pm on Friday as the office crowd gets there to start their weekend, and there's only standing room after that. But we also came back on Sunday afternoon and it really is a nice place to start your night. The bartenders are very knowledgeable too. Pascale Restaurant for breakfast was a great start to your day. Only 1 coffee, 1 juice and 1 meal .. which is enough for anyone, but I do like to start my day with 2 coffees. But for dinner also .. the food truly is exceptional. Unfortunately the service was sooo slow though. But the staff really are very good. Very friendly and professional, but we awaited the menu for the desserts for over 20 mins and finally gave up and left. Couldn't wait any more. Wasn't full either, so a tad confusing. But nonetheless, the food truly was exceptional. Location is absolutely central to everything! Shops, theatres, Yarra River, retail therapy plus, walk to Lygon Street "Little Italy" as well as "Chinatown" too. Everything is close!

Poor 2.0
This hotel almost spoilt my engagement holiday
Initially my fiancé and I thought the hotel looked gorgeous and we loved walking around the foyer and common areas. The rooms on the surface looked incredible and we were excited about our stay at this brand new hotel. Our minds were quickly changed.. We arrived back at 2am to go to sleep after a late night at the tennis to find the pillows had hairs on them and we noticed the shower had hairs in it which washed towards the drain. My fiancé put one of her dresses over the pillow and we shared that pillow for the night. The next day we complained about the poor hygiene and were told the hotel was fully booked but could put us in another room or clean the room for us. We were leaving to go out and they said they could pack up our things to move us to the next room but we didn't feel comfortable with this so let them re-clean our room. We came back at 2am the next morning to a note saying the room was given a "VIP clean" and a small bottle of prosecco on ice was awaiting us. Upon further inspection the pillows still had hair on them and we went down and asked for new sheets and the receptionist did a fantastic job and changed the sheets for us and we were satisfied. The next morning we awoke to a call offering to upgrade us to another room. We gratiously accepted and moved into the new room. We immediately noticed this room was worse. There were masacara stains on one of the pillows, hairs on another and the throw pillow had suspicious white stains all over it. The bath

We make a habit of staying in 5 star hotels in Melbourne every Christmas. This is the first time we've been completely happy with every element of a hotel. QT goes out of their way to make your feel welcome. They have got around the stuffy feeling of most 5 stars by going with a modern look. Our fantastic stay began with the girls at the front door welcoming us. They talked with our kids, cuddled our baby and stood and talked with us until we had checked in and had been served. We felt welcome from the first moment - almost homely. The room was amazing. Everything provided. It was clean and organised. There was plenty of space. No extra charges for anything - movies and Foxtel provided, and we opted for a package that included breakfast and valet parking. After a great night's sleep, we were most impressed with breakfast the next morning. No buffet breakfast here....this was an included breakfast, cooked fresh, served to the table. It included the made coffee and juice. So much better than everywhere else we've been. We'll be back here every time from now on.

Quality Time at the QT
Fantastic experience during our brief 16 hours at the QT. The hotel’s clean, modern and sleek design left my lady and I inspired all while feeling at peace. A true creative’s paradise, neither form nor function seemed to be sacrificed in the design of this hotel. The hotel is very sophisticated and the staff was professional and friendly from the door men all the way to the rooftop bar tenders. The minor details in the hotel and in our room continued to surprise and delight us. The variety of materials used as well as the unique execution of the rooms open concept layout was simple yet elegant. No detail was omitted when creating this hotel. The elevators even had recordings from voices of the world. We arrived at roughly 16:00; at which point we immediately freshened up and made our way to the roof top bar. The drinks were delicious, the atmosphere was hip with a great view of down town. After wards, we walked to Chinatown where we feasted on dim sum and listened to some live music. The QT is located in the cultural heart of the Melbourne and it made getting around very easy. The beds were extremely comfortable and the complementary and vast selection of movies made for the perfect night cap. The QT is a great choice for those looking for a simple and sophisticated, yet unpretentious, hotel for all to enjoy.
