Nice hotel and central in Old Town
Not a good experience!! When we checked in they did not have our requested rooms ready, adjoining as requested(at 9pm) or the rollaway bed available, they did not have the room I paid for a junior suite and garden room and kept trying to put us in smaller rooms! The front desk staff were hopeless, it took us two hours to check in, finally (after my husband yelling at them)to get our rooms for five people but my 83 year old mum was on the 1st floor and we were on the 3rd floor, I could write a novel on this whole stay and how badly it was handled. No compensation was offered , after paying over 3000.00! Tried to get hold of a manager, not possible. Our rooms were not maintained until 7pm and only by me having to go down to the front desk to ask, even though when we went out for the day we let the front desk know we were going out so they could clean it, come back....not done, 3 days in a row and then they didn't give us water, fridges wouldn't open, didn't make a bed one day,etc...and had to call again. We asked the front desk for information on 'what to do' (no conceirge service) they were clueless, didn't even have a map, had to google and print one! Then they promised to get us information on the Panama Canal...we never received anything...I gave up! I am in this industry, not one attempt was made by the front desk or management to offer even a complimentary anything, or a 'sorry' they are absolutely oblivious to customer service or how to run a hotel. Very Unhappy!!

Exceptional 10.0
Elegant without being stuffy
I am so glad I stayed at this magnificent hotel in Cacsa Viejo. It was centrally located in the heart of the old town and walking distance to everything in the area. But the best part of staying at this hotel was the impeccable service provided by not only the front desk staff, but by Reynaldo the concierge. Reynaldo made my great stay into one that I will never forget because of his commitment to helping me make the most of the 28 hours I had to visit in Panama City. He started by walking me to the ATM, which was a couple blocks away, not because of a safety issue, but because previous guests had gotten lost. Then, he scheduled a Panama Canal tour for me with an amazing guide, Sean. Reynaldo not only suggested the best local gems restaurants, he also told me about his favorite dishes and showed me photos of them so I could make an informed decision! (*I chose to eat outside the hotel so I could experience local flavors.) Reynaldo's job required him to help guests, but it was Reynaldo's amazingly positive, helpful personality that really made guests feel special. Juan, the hotel manager, was visible and available to guests as well. Before I left the hotel I was able to enjoy the rooftop pool and the amazing views that it had to offer. I cannot wait to bring my husband to this amazing hotel and to experience the service that I won't soon forget.

Good 6.0
So...much...noise!
Start with the good points, the hotel is in a great location in the heart of the historic area of the city. The hotel itself is very well presented and the staff very friendly. However...we had a room that over looked the central lobby of the hotel. The lobby has a piano, bar and is also where breakfast is served. This means that the noise goes on almost all night. Whether it is music, followed by staff clearing up followed by staff setting up for breakfast. We were there 3 nights and the only quiet time was between 4am and 5am. My other half wasn't well during our trip so we spent a couple of the days in the hotel and only going out in the evening. The room didn't come with a do not disturb sign though so we were disturbed 3 times a day. First the cleaner (fair enough) but then also by 2 people who felt the need to check the mini bar every single day, a check that seemed to consist of touching each item. Then finally we got a knock on the door in the evening for a turn down service. What this hotel has in terms of location and presentation it loses in unfortunate ways that could easily be remedied.

Nice concept, poor performance
I was given a partial cabin in the worst location. There is no heat. Tonight it is 63F in my room. Even if I weren’t from the tropics, that’s cold. The room was not clean....dusty, visible dirt, and the extra blanket smelled like it had never been washed. The bed covering was dirty. I asked for a clean blanket at the office. They sent two that reek of mothballs. Workers prepared a wedding tent right outside my window until at least 11 pm, and the window blinds allow enough light in to read by. I am not a fan of Christmas decorations, so take this your own way, but the sheer size of the snowmen and tall wire light tree obscure the natural beauty. The restaurant is nicely appointed and reasonably priced, but my waitress spent her time on her phone turned away from me. I had to get up and ask for more water, and I was the sole patron. By 4 am I had a splitting headache, opting to avoid some wedding crowd, and heating the bathroom with the blow dryer. If you’re a coffee fan, and don’t mind a rough drive, it may be worth a visit, but there are many options in the area.

Very good 8.0
This is a very nice newly renovated property. Hotel lobby is open and fresh. Nice bar and dining room areas. The rooms are small and design vs function seems to have taken over. In the bathroom for example every space was tightly used and no space around sink area to put a shaving kit or anything else. There aren't any towel racks of any kind to hang up a towel or face cloth. Shower was small and the slope of the floor didn't allow for very good drainage of shower. Little things do make a difference. The list of items in the fridge didn't match the items in the fridge?? As for service, there needs to be a lot more training of the staff in all areas. The room attendants should know to put what items were used back in the room clean: ie towels, bath matt, face cloths etc. The concierge area did not have maps of the city, "hop on hop off" schedules with times etc. Very little information and no one seemed to know too much. I know the industry and understand the growing pains, I will enjoy my next stay even more. This hotel is in a great location, with all kinds of restoration going on in the area. The architectural restorations are going to be fantastic. Looking forward to going back next year.
