Poor 2.0
Adequate rooms marred by bad service
The room was well-equipped for longer stays, with washing machine & mini kitchenette. The room description on Expedia indicated tub, but there was no bathtub. Service staff we encountered were surly and curt. We booked this hotel last min as we had an issue with our resvn at another hotel. This hotel was having a special deal for 2 hr extended late checkout. We made the booking right before we checked in that night, after 10pm. Front desk called us the next day at 12 noon to remind us to checkout. When asked about the late c/o offer they insisted there was no late c/o as the hotel was "running full". We checked in only after 10pm the night before and were not informed the hotel would not be honouring the late c/o due to full occupancy. We also booked the offer just less than an hour prior to check-in. The hotel was still running discounted rates and the same late c/o promo on all OTAs - either they forgot to close the rooms, or they were lying to us. We informed the front desk that we were not ready to check out and to allow us an extra hour (bear in mind it was supposed to be 2 hours). The staff sounded very annoyed at this and hung up. If the hotel is not able to accommodate their advertised promotions, do highlight it to your guests during check in. Also ensure staff are trained to handle such situations appropriately instead of making the guest feel unwelcome. TLDR; Adequate rooms marred by bad service

Promised Everything, in reality, terrible!!
On walking through the entrance it is a very grand hotel, beautiful lobby and seating area. We were sat down, given tea and started the check in process which was great until the lady wanted to charge £50 to my card as a deposit only refundable 2 weeks after the stay (not stated on advert)! After paying this, we were then shown our room which was very nice, comfy bed, nice bathroom, nice kitchen area, overall very nice...until you want to cook anything you may have brought with you as you have cooking facilities...just no pots, pans or utensils (you have to ask someone to bring this up)! Went for a drink in what we thought was the hotels bar, situated in the hotel, nice bar, everything great until you want to at check in, the hotel accepted Amex (20 feet away) so in theory the hotels bar should too or at least be able to charge to the room, nope none of these, its cash, visa or mastercard!! We were made to feel stupid to which we later complained, was promised a free room upgrade at 2pm the next day which again never happened, we were just changed rooms (same room on different floor)! There were major works being carried out in the hotel which again was not great! On making a statement about this, we were given free breakfast and to check out when we liked. On check out day we had a late flight so chilled in our room, reception rang at 12 to say we had to check out at 2pm!!

A 4.5 star hotel in an unlikely neighborhood place
OMG. Yeah, that's what I would say nicely about this hotel in simple words. Some reviewers say the bedroom is small. I find it not so. Maybe because I am the only occupant in my stay then, lols. But the bed (yes the bed) is so far the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. All the for white pillows are superbly soft. Wish my bed back home is like this. Facilities are good, though hadn't the chance to use the pool, gym, and sauna/Jacuzzi at the lobby due to lack of time (and just one night stay - I should have booked more nights). Now for the cons: I could sometimes hear the next door room occupants so I guess the walls are not that sound proof. I could even hear the traffic outside as my room window is facing the road just a few meters from the hotel (and admittedly, the view is not nice to look at). The bath tub is ... small, lols. I guess bigger guests will be complaining a lot about the lack of space of the tub. And yes (so some guests did mention in their review) there were mosquitoes inside the next door restaurant Chow. I would guess they come from the nearby murky (and bit smelly) river just beside the hotel. That's why I titled this review "unlikely neighborhood place" since an opulent looking hotel looks out of place in this part of Bangkok.

Clean hotel, very nice bed, poor location
Metropole is far away from BTS, very troublesome if you travel a lot. We had to take taxi every time we reach the nearest BTS (Thonglor) and it would easily cost 50-80 THB from the BTS to hotel. The hotel provides shuttle bus but it's only one way, and it's not scheduled, but by appointment. The shuttle bus was twice 10-15 minutes late. The hotel staffs are not very friendly but OK. The design is exceptional with good spa massage shop at Ground floor. On the day we checked in, another group of tourists from C land also checked in. I would like to think that the hotel has contracts with tourists agency and would accept group tourists very frequently. They were very noisy despite at the hotel lobby or in their rooms, it's truly a bummer!

Beautiful new hotel
We stayed here for a long layover. Picked it as it was close to the airport rail link. However, it wasn’t easy to get a taxi from a rail link station to the hotel as the drivers refused to drive such a short distance and walking with luggage in the heat was not an option. We arrived early in the morning and had a buffet breakfast, which was average, and then waited in the lobby for check in. Our room was ready 2 hours before standard check in time at 2pm. The hotel and the room is perfect, clean, new, stylish with very comfortable beds and pillows. Loved the washing machine/dryer combo in the kitchen. The only downside is the location. It is a bit too far from the shoping centers or places of interest.
