- The hotel is a new property (by 2017). The receptionist mentioned that since it is new, some signs and instructions (e.g., how to use card access to enter room and use elevator) are still not installed. This was not a problem whatsoever though. - The rooms and bathrooms are still squeaky clean. I really hope they can maintain this level in the future. - Location is excellent. Very close to Halal food courts, next to shopping areas at Joo Chiat, and within walking distance to Paya Lebar MRT. - The rooms are relatively small, but reasonably good at the price point. I like the decor and the huge black-and-white photo at the wall behind the bed. - The reception staff was actually friendly and courteous. But what really detracts from my overall experience was that there seems to be a miscommunication between the front staff with the janitor during my check-in in which I was allocated a room that was not prepared at all (e.g., bedsheet and blanket sat on a table when I entered the room). After some communications between the janitor and the front staff, I was given another room nearby that happens to be ready at the time. The janitor was helpful, although unfortunately much less friendlier than the receptionist. - My family said the pillow is too hard, causing them to have some sleeping problem. - Overall, the hotel is very competitive to other hotels in the surrounding Joo Chiat area. I might very likely stay at this hotel again.

Not practical for airport
I wanted to stay fairly close to the airport but unfortunately this was not close enough to be considered a practical choice just for this reason. It is also quite far from the subway and all in all not easily connected to downtown so I spent a lot of money on taxis. I have not spent much time inside the actual hotel and room, but I found them below my standard - unfortunately Singapore is very expensive in this way. For me by far the most important thing was to get a good night's sleep while jetlagged, which I did not get, because my room was located right next the the elevator with people moving along the corridor all the time during the night. One particularly family was checking in with little children, shouting and shuffling in the middle of the night and even high quality earplugs did not help, which says a lot about the level of sound-proofing. The one thing that redeems this hotel is the staff, with Mr Hamid being exceptionally helpful.

The hotel is a bit overpriced. By paying a little more, you could get a hotel with a swimming pool and other facilities. However, Joo Chiat (the Malay quarter) is a charming area, where you can actually feel like you’re in old Singapore. And the hotel captures that nostalgia. Though the rooms are new and small, they’re decorated in a 1950’s fashion. The king size bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. Also, the lobby was big and appealing. I didn’t eat the buffet breakfast, as it didn’t look that great. Restaurants galore in the neighborhood. But few serve breakfast.

Exceptional 10.0
Nice little hotel with excellent customer service
Me and my wife stayed in this hotel for 4 days and I must say our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable . The hotel is well kept and near all amenities . Restaurants are plenty around the hotel and will only take 10 min train ride to the city center. The best part of our stay is the friendliness and service provided by hotel staff . We are extremely delighted with the service provided from the check-in till check out . Special mention to Mr Hamidi at front desk whom always there to assist us with a smile . Overall , we would recommend this hotel for travelers looking for a simple yet clean hotel to stay .

Nice place but could do with some improvements
Place looks better then normal stay hotels, but could have some improvements. 1) the room I stayed (318) can't watch YouTube or netflix with the smart TV, would be nice if there's cable channels other then local channels. 2) at early morning some one tried to open my room room. Luckyly I latched the door. Think it was a staff cos mumbled about open wrong room. 3) been 3 weeks and my deposit has not been returned. Overall I'm still happy. Would return again soon.
