Profile: Ueno

Profile: Ueno

Quaint gardens in Ueno set this pristine area apart from the city’s surrounding districts. Here, you’ll step onto lush greens, be inspired by abundant cherry blossoms, and gaze over reflective pools shimmering in the sunlight. Learn about Japanese history too, at the massive Tokyo National Museum holding nearly 100,000 exhibits.

Cheap eats abound in this northern district, where you can nosh on a budget snack plate while visiting the packed Ameyoko street market. The stalls here spill with souvenirs, but you can find higher-end merchandise at the oldest discounter in Tokyo, known as Takeya.

    perfect location....book now!!

Location is spot on! 10 min walk from Ueno station which is on the JR Yamanote line, local subway also very close. loads of alleyways and markets surrounding the hotel for local restaurants, street foods, fresh produce, general stores and shopping. felt lie locals eating dinner every night..very affordable and delicious food. only few stops from JR Tokyo station for JR Shinkasen (bullet train) and it's on the JR Yamanote line which loops around Tokyo and the big neighborhoods to visit inc Shibuya, harajuku and shinjuku. lots of family mart and 7-11 convenience stores close by. room is very small... first visiti to japan and read all the comments, but for 2 adults with 2 backpacks we got used to the space. bed was a little bit hard but ok. very small shower... but this seems to be common in japan. staff very friendly and helpful. breakfast is ok ... 4 options to choose from, basic but does the job to start the day... want to leave room for all the yummy street foods and restaurants you will eat during the day/night. small things made it feel comfortable - free umbrella use for the day, tea/coffee/ extra supplies at the lobby, information brochures. 100% would stay here again for the location!!

    Great location, comfy beds.

The location was simply the best. So close to the subway and a minutes walk from all the markets and restaurants. I always felt safe even if on my own. The beds were soooo comfy and you could not really hear your neighbours which was a bonus. We did have a twin room at the end of the hall way which may have helped noise which I find challenging when I travel.

  • 6.0.Good

Good location -- within walkable distance (less than 5 minutes from a major train station: JR Ueno station and two subway Tokyo Metro stations: Tokyo Metro Marunouchi line and Ginza line). But the room itself was very, very tiny. The building wouldn't turn on the heater until "it got cold outside". (Mind you, the room is already very cold to begin with... had to call the reception/front desk to turn it on...)

Good location for a good price

it was just a short trip but the location of the hotel is great as it is near to the JR line and airport express. Not to mention the nearby market place.
