A few pluses but one big negative
There was a lot to like about the KL Journal but one big negative that means we likely won’t be back and chose another hotel for the second part of our KL trip. Rooms were clean, location is good, breakfast very, very nice. The swimming club upstairs was nice. We’d probably return for that. However, the big negative - on our first night there someone entered our room when we were sleeping. My partner and I woke up but I was very hazy, thought I had dreamt it and quickly fell back asleep. He could not get back to sleep and stayed on edge throughout the night. When I woke up and realized what had happened I spoke with reception who found it was a housekeeper but they were adamant that the person had only ‘tried’ the door and not entered - though the door was definitely open and ajar and only the latch had stopped them from fully entering. This discrepancy in stories and a lack of follow up from reception and the manager who said she would come back to us but never did put us on edge the second night and meant we hardly slept again. As a gay couple in a country where homosexual is criminalised safety needs to be our number one factor. We did not feel safe. Therefore on our return to KL in a week we have booked with the Park Royal instead of with the KL journal. It’s a pity as we’re in KL a bit and thought we’d found our new hotel.

Great little hotel in great location
Great little hotel, convenient location very close to Jalun Alor night market, which was great, we ate at the market every evening. Also close to Low Yat and other shoping interests. Easy to get to and from airport by train and mono rail which is much fater than catching a taxi and took at least twice as long if not more. The hotel was just off the main street and the room was quiet and comfertable and the hotel itself was modern. The staff were efficient but not overly friendly. There was also a convenient self serve Laundry facility a few doors up.
