8/10 Very good

The historic character and ambiance was charming. Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent food in the bistro. We did not stay in the main building but in a very small room at the back of the inn. The dated room did not have WIFI or a TV but it was clean, the shower was good and the room was quiet. Definitely needs new mattresses as you could feel the springs. All in all a good place for a short stay.

Very basic accommodation. Single beds not comfortable. Bathrooms very dated with mould. No telephone in room and would be good as there is no phone reception in the area. No way to contact anyone if there is an issue throughout the night.

We stayed in a room in the pub. My understanding is that there are also rooms in a separate building. The pub building itself is beautiful and historic. Don't expect modern comforts like a tv, but we did not miss those at all (preferred not to have them in fact). I would not recommend staying in the pub building on a weekend night if you need to sleep early. If you are keen on a couple of drinks and staying up until midnight or so, then there is no problem. At least on the Friday and Saturday we stayed there it was fairly noisy until pub closing time, and the noise carries into the room through the floor. We had some miscommunication with the staff regarding our stay, but our complaints were taken seriously and all was resolved well in the end. So overall, we had a nice stay, although we got a bit less sleep than we were expecting.

A very special hotel, roll back in time
We enjoyed staying in this very special hotel. The staffs were very nice. We felt being welcome and cared. The building was built in 1827, and it was kept the same way to be an historical site. Inside the hotel, there is a museum which shows the life in old days in Australia. We are from America, walking in the museum, feeling we were rolled back in time in another country. The room we stayed is also decorated in old style, it reminded me the houses in plantations in South of United States. Both of the beds are very comfortable. This is not a modern fancy hotel, but has its own special style, good for a weekend getaway.

2/10 Poor

Very sad to see a heritage building destroyed to make a fast buck. The inside of the building had an odour so bad we didn’t want to go back inside.

Never stayed due to appalling service
On arrival they said they didn't get my booking and even though I had a booking confirmation email they left me waiting over 3 hours I ended up leaving and didn't stay worst service hotel ever

small,no chair,table,tv,radio,outlook,
Disappointing, very small, things were new & it had been freshly painted, bags had to go on the floor, no chair inside, dirt parking spot, could do with a spruce up. Had tea & coffee, but no spoons. Fridge was a plus. No tv, radio, clock. It was not expensive, but would have liked a little more.

Last Resort
Needed a place to stay for a course nearby for 2 days. Pub/Desk staff were nice, approachable and helpful but can't say the same about the rooms. Cold, old, tired rooms with no TVs, no heaters, small and cramped, nowhere to put luggage or hang clothes, shower was blocked which meant the bathroom flooded. The rooms need some serious TLC....

2/10 Poor

Never again. Photos deceptive
If you look at the photos online provided by management, you see the old sandstone 1836 inn. Impressive. You then see interior shots of the rooms. Some are in the old heritage building, but the cheaper rooms are NOT. Instead, they are in an old dilapidated 1960s built motel with the windows and fibro panelling alongside We'd chosen a cheap room from expedia, but when going to reception in the pub and paying for the accommodation, we found the reality behind the story. We were assigned Room 1, which was a double room at the roadside end. The door was open on arrival, and the reason for this was it had been leaking, and the musty smell was quite pungent. The room was also adjacent to the rubbish skips for the pub, which another reviewer here said was smelly, although we couldn't detect it over the musty smell from the leak. The fan didn't work, so we had to move to another room as it was 30 degrees that day. For the first time ever we were in a motel room without a TV. There was no toaster, definitely no microwave. The fridge was relatively new, although the door was sticking, meaning you had to hold the fridge to open the door to avoid pulling it off the shelf. We've been to a lot of cheap motels in the past, and some of this price, but alas, this was the worst we've endured. Five of the six external rooms were occupied (Room 1 wasn't given out, of course), so I guess that others might feel differently to us

Nice place with rude staff
Showed up to the hotel and the manager demanded that we pay another 75 bucks for the accommodation. They said that my credit card transaction had not gone through and so insisted that i pay again or I wouldnt get the room. Room was nice otherwise. Separate bathroom was clean and new looking
