Why such poor wifi
The Wifi was awful and not one person in the front desk was helpful friendly or evening smiling. The bar staff however were amazing, hardworking and everyone looked like they were happy to be there. I was also charged a £100 holding fee which I still haven't received back yet

Fantastic wedding
Attending friends daughters wedding, the staff were excellent due to the COVID 19 situation. They made everyone feel safe & the wedding was fantastic. Hotel room very nice.

Ruined my birthday
I booked this hotel with a few friends to celebrate my birthday, it was my first time in liverpool so I was excited to stay at the Shankly as I had heard good things about it and the rooms looked amazing. A few days before my arrival a staff member messaged to ask me if I was celebrating anything special i told her it was a trip for my birthday and thought they may make extra effort to make our stay pleasant because of the occasion. When we got there we checked in and had to wait 2 hours for our room to be ready (although we arrived at 2pm and check in is at 3) the room was lovely and clean but I had seen online that there was surround speakers in each room, one of the main things that attracted me to the hotel, I wasted time trying to get it to work, I called down 3 times, twice they said they were sending someone up to have a look, no one ever showed before finally telling me that they removed all speakers from floor 2 and that the hotel was full so there was nothing they could do about it. Tried to order pizza at 2am I called it room service, the lady on the phone abruptly said it was only pizza nothing else, I asked if they could send some water up with the pizza she said no you have to come up to the bar and get it, at 2 in the morning!! Have you ever heard of such a thing even in the most basic hotel if you call and ask for a drink they will bring it up to you! Poor customer service, rude staff, let’s down the hotel and it’s location completely. Disappointed!!

Brilliant
Lovely stay. Check in easy, room not quite ready but we were early so had a look round all the memorabilia which was fab. The room was brilliant, very spacious and clean. Loved the ceiling picture especially as it had a calming light which was great as I can’t sleep in pitch black. Had a great night sleep in a lovely comfy bed. The breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day. Lots of Hen parties when we stayed but not a problem as rooms are well soundproofed. If you are a Liverpool fan and are going to do an Anfield tour stay here , it’s brilliant

Lovely hotel.
Lovely, clean, hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. The only downside was that the reception phoned a taxi for us(Delta I think) which didn't come. So as we were trying to get to Anfield for the football we had to flag down a black taxi which wasn't easy. So the hotel and the taxi company need to communicate better.

Disappointing
Problems checking in with faulty card machines. Also hotel isn't very trusting as they take a £50 security against room damage and also ask for ID! Room wasn't particularly well laid out with a tv on a wall that couldn't be viewed from the nain bed andxa wardrobe right next to a column. Room wasn't as clean as I'd have liked with marks from coffee cups on furniture, also Limited plugs that are hard to find for charging etc.
