    Hot

    We have stayed at the Langham hotel before & returned as we had enjoyed our stay. Funny enough we were put in the same room 302 ,which although small was adequate. Then the problems started. We were booked for the evening meal,so at around 6pm we began to get ready , went to jump in the shower and found it didn't work. Called reception somebody came to take a look, couldn't do anything. So they offered us another room ,not a double which we were in but a twin , as they said there were no extra rooms ,so no upgrade. The best we got was the use of the bathroom in the twin room which was 100 foot down the corridor. Nice. Had a nice meal bought a bottle of wine with it thought at might be offered on the house for the inconvenience, but no. The room we were in was the hottest stuffiest room I've ever stayed in like a sauna. The staff were friendly, just thought management would have considered our situation

    Lovely stay. Minimal noise fan would improve.

    We had 2 rooms for family of 4, next to each other on 3rd floor. Both were spotless. Bathrooms looked brand new they were so clean. The stairways, lift and communal areas also looked incredibly clean. Welcome service was excellent despite it being about 10pm. Very friendly and informative. Breakfast was good quality, well cooked and managed to avoid the temptation to oversize the portion. It was a good size to fuel you for the morning without so much that you just wanted to go back to bed! I was a bit disappointed that initially we were told we couldn’t sit in the conservatory, despite it being 7.45 on a Sunday am, because the tables were only laid up for 2. However, the waitress was quick to pick up on my disappointment and added cutlery to a 4 seater table that was in there at the end. It made no difference social distance wise so I’m not sure why this couldn’t be a 4 anyway. The only thing that would put me off coming back was how unbearably hot the room was all night. It wasn’t a hot night outside and even with the window open it was airless. The small fan was helpful but not enough and certainly too noisy to have on at night. We had to shut the window at 4am due to the seagulls waking up so the room was horrible then. Adding in people in town making noise until the early hours and noisy guests/staff from 5am, we didn’t sleep. Shame as the bed was wonderfully supportive and comfortable. Overall the hotel - clean, well kept, delicious breakfast, helpful staff, comfy bed.

    Great, but book a “superior” room

    We had booked a “standard double” room and were very disappointed with it (too small), but no upgrades were available. We had other issues (bathroom size, shower height, bathroom door & power failure) so spoke to the manager, Simon, the next morning. He listened to us, was sympathetic to the issues, and promised to find us an alternative room - which he did. A lovely room, with space to move past each other, a good-sized bathroom and a sea view. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean, with pleasant decor and the food was excellent. We would stay here again, and recommend it for a stay in Eastbourne, but please do book a “superior double with sea view”!

    Outstanding mini break

    This was our first visit to The Langham Hotel, 2 night stay. We usually use Hilton or other similar chains but were drawn to the seafront location. Our stay was faultless (and I am quite good at finding fault!!) The staff were all very friendly and efficient; the hotel had two large coach parties for meals but the restaurant was staffed to easily cope and food was excellent. Superb breakfast. We will certainly stay again if down that way.

    Hard bed but functional room.

    Our room was very small at the back of the hotel with a very small bathroom. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. At best you could describe it as functional. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was above average.

    Very small room by modern standards, television really small . Toilet seat angled wrong so never stayed up. Overall quite disappointing at twice the price of a Premier Inn.
