Great hostess, needs major updates.
The owner was extremely nice and hospitable but the motel was very run down and needs major updates. Not just to the exterior but the interior. The bathroom was horrific, we were afraid to shower. We were also concerned about the cleanliness of the bed linens.

Wont stay again
The owner was very unorganized and the office was a mess. The rooms are crazy small, hardly anyroom. And the shower was not cleaned, old soap was still in there.

Clean, friendly, affordable, rustic.
The hotel and rooms are not fancy, but they are clean and it is quiet after 10:00 at night. The atmosphere may be a bit rustic, but that goes with the general atmosphere of the area. The front desk staff are always very friendly and helpful. Call ahead if you are going to be checking in after 6 and they will be glad to have someone meet you at the desk. The hotel has a small pool out front, but no lifeguard. Their rates are very reasonable, especially if you book ahead during leaf viewing season. We have stayed there overnight several times when passing through and always had the same experience. Most of the hotels in this area cater to motorcycle bikers, as does this hotel. But most of the bikers we have encountered have been nice and quiet after hours. I have had no reason to feel uneasy or unsafe around them. It isn't a 5-star spa hotel, but the prices reflect that and for an overnight stay it is just fine. Book early! The number of rooms are limited and usually fill up fast. We will continue to stay there as our hotel of choice when passing through the area.

Very Welcoming And Friendly!
I stayed there because it was near to the southern end of Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a family owned motel and they were very welcoming and helpful. Old fashioned but clean and comfy place. Surrounded by awesome restaurants and beautiful roads. In the morning when I woke up battery of my motorcycle was dead and owner helped me to jump start. I had a chat with the owner. He was very resourceful and helpful.

Nope, just nope.
Showed up to hotel grounds being trashy, and was greeted by a "fill in" at the front desk. I could smell the alcohol on him before I was inside. I asked to look at the room before I checked in, and was highly disappointed. The pictures posted online, and the looks of the hotel in person were extremely different. I expected an older motel, family owned, and clean and welcoming. Being greeted by an intoxicated person, then walking in to find a dark and drab room with no space was what I got. The door opening to the parking lot was never an issue, until I saw the door was not at all sturdy. I was not comfortable having my 2 small children in tow, and being greeted by someone under the influence, and keeping them in that room. I was still charged for almost a full night stay, and left to get one of the only rooms left in Maggie Valley for that night. I may have had to pay a lot more, but at least I was not greeted by the alcohol smell coming from someone's pores and we had a clean and safe place to stay. I will not be reserving a room there again.
