Rockcliffe Hotel

Had a lovely weekend at the Rockcliffe very friendly staff great hospitality comfortable bed and full English breakfast Would definitely recommend and we will be returning again

I would not stay here again! The hotel is very old and dated, feels like stepping back in time, the room was awful! Our room smelt disgusting, it was very dirty and there was no space. The only good thing about this room was the opening window. There was no tv signal, the shower didn’t work, the bathroom was mouldy and dusty and dirty and the room absolutely stank. This hotel is nothing like the photos!

Really needs a lot of work

We booked a sea view double room with breakfast for two nights and left after the first night. If we had not booked for a show on the following day we would have left earlier. We were informed that although parking could not be guaranteed it was a possibility - there were only two elongated spaces (which could accommodate a total of 4 cars behind each other at a push) for 16 rooms so NO PARKING as advertised. There was NO WIFI as advertised. The bedroom was miniscule - only four steps from the door to the window. The room was only 7 feet wide at its widest point, leaving only a one foot gap to sidle past the foot of the bed through to the 'en suite' sink, at the same time ducking under the TV which had been mounted over 6 ft up the wall to avoid concussion!. Said TV was unwatchable anyway as it had no remote control. When I asked for a remote the owner/manager (who seemed to be running the place single-handed as we saw no other staff) said it was missing and he would try to replace it. No remote materialised so NO TV. The tiny window was so dirty that no natural light was managing to get through and the view which we had paid extra for was non-existent so NO SEA VIEW. The toilet and shower were both housed in a room no bigger than a wardrobe, the ceiling was cracked and mouldy and the light housed a large collection of dead insects. The sitting room had very dark decor and cold grey flooring and the large picture window was equally as dirty as that in the bedroom.

This hotel is in a great location, but the hotel is in need of refurbishment. The hotel has great potential and the owner is very welcoming and doing the best he can.
