Great staff/Room has issues/Fair value overall
Service was very good. Friendly, helpful and attentive. Room has some issues. The air conditioner seems oversized for the room and is very noisy. The television only had 4-5 channels (all local). While not dirty per se, the bedding and towels seemed quite worn. Convenient location near an MRT (subway) station. Overall pretty decent value for the price (for Singapore).

Exceptional 10.0
We stayed in the deluxe suite room. The bath was fantastic! The bed was huge (the bed was firm which we liked) it was big enough for 2 adults and a kid, the room was spacious enough for the time we spent in it, though we did only really sleep and bathe there as there is so much to see and do in Singapore! The staff were all friendly! Ordered us taxis, safely stored our luggage on check out day, and they gave us extra free bottles of water when requested! We had flight delays of 10+ hours, we rang the hotel to let them know we wouldn’t be there to check in for the first night, the staff were very accommodating and helpful. We ended up checking in at about 2am, very quickly too, we were in our room within a minute or so and sleeping soundly. The complementary mini bar items were great too. The only thing that was uncomfortable about the room was not having a fully closing door for the bathroom area and having the curtain on the outside of the bathroom; when staying with a kid this can be problematic however it isn’t something you can’t deal with. Some outside noise can be heard, it is near a rather lively area, it’s no different than staying in a city hotel and hearing traffic though. There’s a small hawker center a few steps from the hotel, and a 7Eleven store. There’s a couple of grocery stores within 5-10 minute walk which is very convenient.

Clean but very small room
The room is clean and the lobby looks nice. However, the size of the room is ridiculously small. Could barely put our suitcases (we do have two big ones) and had no space to walk at all. Staff at the front desk are very friendly and nice but they don't seem to know much about the local area.

Smaller rooms but cute/trendy little hotel
We found that this hotel had a good value for the money since other more centrally located hotels were much more $$. We LOVED the style of the hotel and restaurant and liked the extra details in the room (lots of little amenities like razor/shaving cream, slippers, water/candy in fridge, etc.). The bed was very comfortable and I liked the modern shower/toilet. It was also impeccably clean. Note that it is a pretty small room, so if you're carrying two huge suitcases, it would get pretty tight in there. For a quick weekend trip, though, it was perfect for a couple or two close friends who didn't mind the see-thru shower/toilet area ;) Breakfast was a bit pricey and small portions, but they do offer a discount for hotel guests. Overall a bit pricey, but I guess everything is in Singapore! Compared to other hotels we found online, this seemed to be a good price. We used grab taxi to get to/from the city and that worked well since it was not walking distance to any attractions. We would probably stay here again as it was one of the better values we found in our search online and was very clean/well maintained :)

Hotel Yan is a boutique style hotel. Take note that hotel has higher elevation from the street level and you would need to climb 3-5 steps to enter the front lobby. No elevator and no one will assist you with your luggages. We arrived after midnight. My son was counted as an adult even though I specified his age upon booking which was 12. So they added a charge which was fine. Front desk asked us to wait so they can set up a rollaway bed. It took almost an hour to get this set up. After travelling for 20 hours, this is a terrible service. Not the fault of front desk but more of the room service "man" who came down to let front desk know its ready. The room and bathroom are clean. The room is very cramp. There were 3 of us; adult and 2 petite teenagers but we made it work. The beds are clean and comfy. Bathroom is glass encased though a heavy drape is hanging over it and is used to cover when in use. Handy Phone is provided free of charge. However, it is not for use as hotspot. Hotel is near the Little India district. Little far from the station but we took Uber for our 2 day stay so it wasn't an inconvenient for us. Safe area as for all of singapore city.
