Quite OK with the price
If you don't mind about the surroundings, the view and the size of the room, and only want to have a good rest during the night, stay with this hotel is value for money. The hotel was built in 2015, so the room looked quite modern. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It provided all the necessities that I needed, including 2 bottles of water. However, the hot water supply could be a worry at winter time. It is electrical and local to the room (or share with the adjacent room). A note on the wall saying that I have to turn on the electrical heating 30 minutes before shower, and the hot water would last for around 15 minutes only. Other than this, everything else seems ok. The location is about 5 minutes walk from North Point MTR station, quite convenient. The wet market below could be a site seeing point for tourists, old Hong Kong places like these are getting fewer and fewer. There is a 24 hours Macdonald's on the main street at the back, so you would never run out of food. With the price that this hotel is charging and the standard that it has provided, I have no complaint at all.

Location is convenient. 5-minutes walk from MTR station. Nice to be upgraded to "Executive Room". Room is on the high level with an extra sofa bed. Overall comfy at first. It was around 7-10 degree that day. But there's no warming device in the room so we've to keep our heavy clothings on, which is not that comfy at all. And the bathroom even further cool me down. I'm in the middle of the shower to get myself warmed and hot water just STOPPED. I've to clean myself up with freezing water and wait for another half hours for hot water to come back. Hot water only last for 5-10 minutes each time and is not enough for residents to have a nice warm shower. And the bedding is not enough to keep us warm. We thought that's all for our poor experience. Nope. Fire alarm rings at 7 PM, 4 AM & 6 AM. We cant't even have a good sleep with the alarm keep waking us up. And no hotel staff explained what's going on or offer any compensations to us. Really disappointed experience this time. (For your record, my stay at M1 during summer was generally okay.) I've to re-consider my accomodation choice next time in Hong Kong.

Better to stay in a guesthouse for this price
- The staff were not unfriendly but it was obvious that it was just a job to them. They did not even try to accommodate. Upon leaving, we asked to borrow a space to change from our business clothes as we head to the airport and to use a toilet, even though they see I was pregnant, they said to me to use the public toilet as they were full. It was more about their attitude and the fact that it was obvious they didn’t even try to help out. - You need to wait for hot water to be heated and it only lasts for about 5-10 mins. You then need to wait another 15 mins for it to heat up. - The room is small but that’s to be expected, however, there’s hardly any space to put your clothes.

The hotel is located in the middle of a foods market. So, it is not a very elegant area as the website of the hotel seems to indicate. A gentleman at the front desk was helpful while a woman was not willing to help in any way. We were during the strike and I asked for the situation in the streets, she said that I can find it by myself. Any request of help was denied. As we were several days, the room was not fully cleaned every day, I had to talk with the coordinator. I did not receive a proper explanation about how to turn on the heater for the bathroom, so I was with cold water for a few days. The rooms are good, however, the complete lack of interest of the staff, especially the woman at the front desk, plus the feeling of being in the middle of a very poor area, eliminated all the stars of this hotel.

Arriving at 0400 I was pleased with the prompt and efficient check in. However, the room was smaller than expected with no wardrobe but a metal frame for hanging clothes. We found that the hot water is individual to each room and requires you to manually switch it on 15 minutes before you shower. Also the water ran cold during my wife’s shower. Not very clever and a bit of a problem when your hair is full of shampoo. The room size is a problem in many hotels in this town where the paying guest is fair game for what can only be summed up as “price gouging and overpricing.” Overall I was not impressed with this establishment and would suggest a rate reduction. Not very likely given the greed factor which prevails in this sector.
