The Captain Thomson Resort is the best place to stay in Alexandria Bay, Great walkable location convenient to the boat tours, restaurants, gift shops, and parks, with incredible views from our balcony overlooking the marina, St Lawrence River and Heart Island and Boldt Castle. My visit was very enjoyable. I was here for a business trip and it was my first time visiting this motel. I was very excited when I saw the patio overlooking the water and how clean the patio was. I felt very comfortable sitting outside and it had a beautiful view of the sunset. I got so distracted by the patio that I didn’t even look at the rest of the room when I first arrived, but once I walked through it, the room was also very clean perfect for what I needed. It was very convenient to have a restaurant right across the street and shops up the street as well that I could walk to. This visit I was only there for one night, but I am looking forward to coming back another time soon. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a great time revisiting the Alexandria Bay area. I highly recommend staying at Capt Thompson resort. The pool area is a nice place to hang out and visit with each other. A little bit of parking space anxiety, a slow draining sink(they might not have known of) and basic cable that leaves a bit to be desired, it does not take away from the breathtaking views, the clean rooms and the staff that was more friendly and courteous than most people that work for tips. Beautiful view of Boldt Castle and the Thousand Islands area. It is so peaceful and quiet and you're right on the water’s edge. Bring bug spray as the mosquitoes will seek you out at night and early morning when you're sitting on your balcony watching tge gorgeous sunsets!

Nicely laid out, our room had a great view of the Boldt Castle. My wife and I (both senior citizens) were very appreciative of the staff, who went above and beyond, to assist us with our luggage. The only downside was that every morning our balcony was covered with dead insects, and the only one who controls that is mother nature. Very enjoyable stay.

Booked late so ended up with a balcony room over the Uncle Sam tour boats. On occasion would smell the gas fumes when taking off or coming back to the dock. View was still nice. Did not use the pool. Room was big enough. It appeared clean but then realized floor could have used a mopping after I dripped some water on it and wiped it up. The crevices by the tub floor could have been a lot cleaner IMO. Plenty of towels. In a good location if you like to be in a touristy area.
