Quality Budget Accommodation in Central Oxford
We stayed for one night at the YHA hostel. It is literally right next door to the railway station but we weren't disturbed by train noise because we had a room on the other side of the building. We paid for a double room; there were two double bunk beds but there was only us in the room. There was an en suite bathroom with toilet, wash basin and shower cubicle. Like most YHA hostels, there are dormitory rooms, shared bathrooms, common room areas, a communal kitchen and a large lobby. Everything was very clean, modern, comfortable, well appointed and well maintained and of the standard of a mid-range travel motel but at budget hostelling prices. The staff were all very helpful and friendly at all times. The next day, we paid two pounds for the luggage storage after we had checked out so that we could spend another day exploring Oxford before going back to London in the evening. We also paid GBP 12.50 for two buffet breakfasts, which were immense and excellent, including toast, rolls, croissants, jams, marmalade, cereals, muesli, yoghurts, fruits, juices, teas, coffee, boiled eggs, omelette, bacon, sausages, baked beans, hash browns and grilled tomatoes. After that lot, we didn't eat again until the evening and were well set up to spend the day exploring the Pitt Rivers and Natural History Museums and the college buildings. The YHA in Oxford represents great value for money and is only 5 minutes' walk from the castle and the old town centre.

    Happy stay at YHA
Great central location, was anticipating the train station being noisy at night time from reading other reviews, however we were on the opposite side and didn’t hear the trains~ the building itself was a bit noisy, things like extraction fans and doors closing could be heard from the room, even through ear plugs n.b I’m a super light sleeper and probably need to upgrade my ear plugs.. The staff were nice and the central spaces welcoming, the self catering kitchen was big and had lots of appliances. Would probably go back if staying in Oxford again!

    Best avoided!
Unfriendly and unwelcoming reception staff members, especially the bald man sitting at the reception. Dirty bedroom and restroom, and mosquitoes. Simply terrible!
