Wow a real jem of a find. Stunning little community village pub in a equally stunning location. Gorgeous little village touching Bristol. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I really enjoyed my supper and would highly recommend this place for steaks. My only quibble was due mainly to the weather. The room itself had no windows only 2 sky lights, which needed to be open because the heat was intense with no air.however it decided to rain, the skylights must of had sensors because they closed , so we lost our source of fresh air. My husband woke feeling suffocated and nearly left to sleep in the car. Luckily it had stopped raining and i was able to open the windows. I feel maybe a fan in the room would have helped. I did enjoy my stay inspite of this , and would recommend to others. Fantastic pub.

A gem off the beaten path
It’s definitely off the beaten path, approximately 25 minutes from the Bristol city center in the town of Chew Maga, but well worth it. It’s got a great charm to it, my room was very nice, and breakfast was included. If you have a car, there are even more possibilities, but if you’re relying on public transportation, there are only 3 buses into Bristol and 3 buses returning to Chew Maga. I would gladly book this again without hesitation, a very enjoyable stay.

The Bear and Swan
We came to The Bear and Swan roughly 2 years ago and as we had such an amazing time, we decided to return. Wrong decision. Management had changed and so had the hospitality. I am diary intolerant and rang before my arrival to be informed that they didn't have any diary alternatives, so I brought my own milk etc. Unfortunately, no fridge to cater for this. Yet they say they cater for vegans, hmmm. Area on the other hand beautiful and the pub next door plus the fish restaurant across the road were very accommodating and friendly, definite thumbs up to them but unfortunately we will not be returning to The Bear and Swan.. Big disappointment!

Terrific value for money, gem!
We were flying from Bristol airport and needed an overnight stay, the accommodation here is excellent every way; cleanliness, comfort style etc The icing on the cake was the breakfast, freshly cooked full English. If you’re flying from Bristol do yourself a favour and stay here for half the price of the Holiday Inn. 10/10 highly recommend!
