SO LOUD! Traffic noise = no sleep. Not on beach.
First I’d just like to say the staff at the hotel was great. And the free breakfast was tasty. Now for the cons - not only is this hotel not on the ‘water edge’, as the NAME claims, it’s also not really on the beach, as the Hotels.com PROFILE claims. Booked this hotel because it was listed as ‘on the beach’. I work on Cebu City and need to escape traffic noise for a few days here and there. I wanted the sound of the ocean to relax by after a stressful week at work. Turns Diamond Water Edge lies in the online profiles and then won’t let you cancel when you discover their lie. Their restaurant area, maybe two high end rooms, and small pool are by the beach. The 4-story hotel is in another building and is set back behind a very BUSY, dirty LOUD road that’s under construction, not paved yet. Horns, big trucks, motors revving and Traffic kept me up until 2am and woke me before 7am for 3-days in a row... even with ear plugs. Not cool. The hotel wouldn’t let me cancel or switch rooms to a cheaper non ocean view room, which may have been quieter (tho def still not quiet). So much for a peaceful weekend away from the noise of Cebu City. The traffic noise at this hotel is Much Worse than at my condo in Mabolo. You can pay less $$$ for quieter hotels in Boracay. No sleep = cranky me = ruined break... all because I picked the wrong hotel. I think Diamond may pay fake reviewers to get their high online ratings... they are definitely not 8-stars for any reason, imo.
