8/10 Very good

Lovely hotel, great location
The hotel is in a great location. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. They gave good tips and information. The only down side is there was no mini fridge and only one electric socket.

Ok room
We got into Paris late and was glad the hotel was just a 6 minute walk from Gare du Nord. It is an older hotel and it showed. It was not very spacious but it was clean. The guy working the desk at night was very nice and friendly. Glad they allowed check-in that late. It was good for a good crash and sleep after a long day of traveling. The noise from the street was loud as we had to have our window open because it was hot. But it quieted after 1 a.m. Overall, for what it was, we were satisfied.

2/10 Poor

Ugly stains room and rude staff- don’t stay there
This place is a joke. I booked for my parents for a few nights during our visit in Paris. The guy who checked them in was very rude. I arrived with my parents because they don’t speak French or English. I told him I was just helping them to settle in. He let me in. 30 minutes later he called the room and told me to leave. I was not going to stay I was helping my parents to unpack etc. I left to my other hotel. Turns out they don’t allow visitors at all. So if you have friends staying there ( please don’t ) you can’t visit them. It doesn’t matter if it is during a day or evening. If you don’t stay can’t visit and a very rude man at the reception will tell you that! Rooms are ugly, carpets have stains, the sink do don’t work at all, and of ants in the room. See pix Don’t stay there.

4/10 Fair

The lobby and the room had a bad odour of stale cigarette smoke. The room was small and too hot, no aircon. The noise from the street was overwhelming, between the heat and the noise it was almost impossible to sleep. At least the sheets and towels were clean

6/10 Good

The hotel metropol is conveniently close to that Gare de Nord (Eurostar) but that is where the positive comments end. The hotel is rundown, basic and in need of a major facelift. The reception area is just about acceptable and the staff we met were all fairly friendly. The stairs are dark, dingy, steep and very much in need of new carpets and a lighting upgrade. The lift is not for the claustrophobic but it is reliable. The room we stayed in was old fashioned, underwhelming and painted orange and black!! However, it was kept very clean and the beds were comfortable. The weather was very hot during our visit to Paris and our room didn’t have air conditioning, although it didn’t make a lot of difference to our nights sleep as we were all so exhausted from our days sightseeing that we slept fairly well. Having said that, we had to open windows for comfort and ventilation and found ourselves were woken occasionally by other residents talking in the early hours which echoed into our room as did cigarette smoke. We didn’t sample breakfast as the breakfast room was unappealing. We decided to use the local Boulanger located 3 minutes down the road. The room had no tea or coffee making facilities. Check out was very easy and the hotel allowed us to store our luggage after checkout which we appreciated. Overall, the hotel Metropol could be so much better if money was spent on modernising it. Decor, lighting, carpets, plug sockets, usb points, breakfast facilities, air conditioning.

6/10 Good

As has been mentioned by others, a 3 star rating is a stretch. But, the place grew on us for our week stay. A 15-20 minute walk gets you to a fair number of sights, and other transportation options abound.
