Amazing rooms and space, too bad about the service
The rooms at JW Marriott are excellent and luxurious. We were placed on level 10, the ladies' floor, and we were advised that this floor is only for women and only serviced by female staff. The room was stylish and had extra additions of fluffy pink robes, slippers with bunnies on them, facial steamer and pedicure kits - extra additions for being on the ladies floor. The rooms were plush with great attention to detail and amenities - such as a very clever toilet and remote-control bidet, electric shades and curtains, wonderful tub. The included laundry was also much appreciated. Note however, that the Marriot does not provide a handy phone like other hotels in Singapore. Where the JW Marriot was disappointing was in its service. On our first night we requested a few items from housekeeping. We waited. One hour later, we called again. They eventually came after we had given up on them and gone to bed. On top of that, a male staff member knocked on our door, despite the fact that they had advised us that the ladies floor was only serviced by female staff. Not a huge issue for us, but it could be an issue for others. We found these holes in service also evident in the executive lounge, where the staff seemed unable to keep basic things topped up, like hot water for tea, cups and spoons. All in all, a stylish stay in a top notch location that could have been made much better with a more organized staff and service.

Exceptional
Great Service Recovery, Friendly Professionalism
Staff was professional, friendly, accommodating. On the day we checked in, we discovered the toilet was leaking. It was something that could not be fixed readily. Management was quick to apologize for the inconvenience and upgraded us to a suite. They lent us an adaptor for a hair appliance but it malfunctioned. Another adaptor they gave us was not compatible with our appliance so they gave us one that looked brand new which had the local plug to use for the remainder of our stay. After a day tour of the city, we came back to our room to find a beautiful bowl of fresh fruits, gourmet chocolates, a bottle of white wine on ice in a champagne bucket and a platter of cheese and crackers with a handwritten note of apology for all the inconvenience. That was a very nice customer service recovery gesture on their part. The hotel is new, very clean, and the rooms had a contemporary feel due to the artistic touch of French artist Philippe Starck. It's located in a quieter area which we preferred, away from the bustling crowd on Orchard Road, yet close enough by taxi or metro to all the sights. Beach Road Kitchen and Akira Back are two venues on site if you want some great food but don't want to go too far. We had breakfast and lunch at the Beach Road Kitchen and dinner at Akira Back. Had great wait staff and food was delicious, right temperature and fresh. Aside from the minor glitches mentioned, had a wonderful stay. Would return here again and recommend to friends/family.

New hotel, could improve
Enjoyable hotel as it is very new and close to transport and marina bay with 2 pools and good facilities. Check in was very slow and took some time. despite being members and booking an executive room it seems they do all check ins at the lobby desk. Room is very modern and has lots of mirror surfaces and no signs of wear and very comfortable and quiet. However for a 5 star hotel and for the price being paid there were a few issues while we stayed here. Staff seemed confused at times, in the lounge on our first day we arrived, went in at 1915, had some drinks and canapes, they state no children in the lounge for evening cocktails but then at least 3 families with children walked in at 1930. The next night our family brought children at 1850 and were reprimanded at the door and no children allowed in, there was no alternative which in other hotels they at least allow you stay in the lobby lounge with children. When we went to the pool area a few times others had brought food, one lady had 3 bags of takeaway and was eating in the seated area. The next day we took 2 cupcakes and a coffee to sit and enjoy the view and again were told off by staff. To top it all off our travel companions left some coins in their room on the table, these were stolen on 2 separate occasions by staff. When confronted at check out they were told the staff thought it was tips! Modern and new hotel but could improve greatly.

Overall V Good...some misses that would have made
Property was very beautifully designed and done. Elevator experience in particular was unique and cool. Infinity Pool on the 18th floor had a great view but was way too small and is "covered" and doesn't have any sun so it was too cold to really soak. The small bar beside the pool was well positioned but the Korean staff which seemed like an intern was completely unschooled in hospitality. We waited over 10 minutes despite being the only people there before she took our orders. After we picked smoothies, we were told that it would take 20mins as it comes from the main kitchen. The room itself was well appointed. Very contemporary in design. The Toto toilet and Bidet was a nice touch and the bath and shower clean. Mattress and Sheets were high quality Egyptian cotton and firm...there was also pillow menu options. Main issue was that the room was a little in the small side. The desk and chair literally touches the bed and the side chair was placed awkwardly in a corner as it was the only space for it... Still a very beautiful hotel and great location in the heart and center of town. Finally, it was our anniversary and despite leaving a note during booking that we would like a high floor, we did not get any special arrangements. This is in stark contrast to St.Regis Singapore where we had many special upgrades, cookies, and arrrangemens that made the stay extra memorable. For the same price, we had expected the same from JR Marriot.

Very good
When you arrive, someone is waiting there to welcome you and walk you to the front desk. Checking in was really quick and everything was great to this point. When I arrived to the room, there was an issue with the cleanliness and I raised it to the manager. He quickly had a solution and cleared up the issue. I will say this with all Marriott and sister hotels, their interior is typically worn and poor style. This location was sadly the same. While I didn’t like the interior, the service was amazing. The gym was nice and so was the view from the pool. The problem with the pools were that they weren’t heated. I didn’t think that would be a problem being that it was 90 degrees but it was just too cold to swim. I saw people with wetsuits on (it isnt glacial cold bitch it was not enjoyable). Now let’s talk breakfast! Located in the building next door (10 second walk), you are greeted by the super friendly staff and wait crew to help with anything you need. This breakfast is huge! So many different stations of local food, desserts, eggs, fruit, yogurt, soups, coffee, waffles/pancakes, breads and drinks. I think it was only $10 extra a day for breakfast and it’s totally worth it. This hotel is located right on top of the subway line and is really easy to get anywhere in the city. There are also restaurants in the same complex. The executive lounge was really nice as well. Again, the staff was super friendly and they had a good selection of food and drinks!
