  • 8.0.Very good

    Two night stay

Pros: Beautiful room, great service, amazing food (especially breakfast) and very comfortable. Cons: No coffee pods for the in-room coffee machine (waiting on a delivery), half the meals in the restaurant were unavailable (had to re-order my meal three times) and the in-room TV could be bigger/more modern. In summary, lovely two night stay with a few minor inconveniences.

Really welcoming staff, very friendly. Pub is nice with great food and the breakfast was great. The down side was my room, very small and good have done with decorating, looked a bit tired. I would also say that it was over priced for what you get but I do understand that they are running a business. Would stay again....

    Historical interest

Amazing historical hotel - housed French naval officers after battle of Trafalgar including Admiral Villeneuve - wooden beams (watch your head) uneven floors but great charm and lovely modern bathroom.

    Nice

Lovely room, very clean and all the staff were extremely efficient and friendly, attentive without being adhesive, the breakfast was amazing !!! one small challenge was that the bed was soooo squeaky and perhaps needs some maintenance.

    Cosy hotel, excellent value.

Very happy with our stay overall. The car park is located across a fairly busy road but it wasn’t really a problem. Our historically themed room, named after French ships who fought at Trafalgar, was clean and fairly comfortable, although I found the mattress rather soft. Two pillows were supplied but neither offered much support and I felt these needed to be upgraded. Lovely large bedside tables with PowerPoints above great fit charging phones overnight and Plenty of space for books, glasses etc. Everything was clean with toiletries supplied in the en suite shower room. Tea and coffee as well as some home made biscuits were available. The room was peaceful, restful and quiet. My one slight gripe was that the lights were too low to use the dressing table to apply make up ( not a particular issue for me). Breakfast was very good indeed coffee, fruit juice and I had a freshly prepared fruit bowl followed by Eggs Benedict, my husband had the granola with freshly prepared fruit followed by a full English… all delicious. Overall I felt it was very good value for just under £90.

Staff are excellent but not enough of them

Beautiful pub and rooms, food is good and the staff are excellent. Special recognition to Gina who was running around doing absolutely everything and was very attentive and polite. The owners need to look into putting more staff on!
