Hotel Astrid, Florence, Italy
Astrid was a former apartment. It had beautiful old doors, big hall way. Very European. I would recommend it to my friends.

Close to train station on a side street. Felt safe. Lady at reception was nice. You keep the keys with you so you can come and go as you please. Had a large, spacious room. Had a minibar. Bathroom worked fine except there was a large patch of mold high up on the side wall which they should fix for the health of their guests. Also the liquid soap they use had such a strong unpleasant smell that I went to get my own. Overall though, I liked it here.

Location, Food, and modern rooms on a Budget.
I loved this hotel. It was far more modern than the more expensive option on the 4th floor. The gentlemen that checked me in seemed to be extremely busy but was very helpful. It is also extremely close the to the train station in central Florence (4 minutes walking) There are an abundance of restaurants all over and being centrally located you could walk or bike ride to anything you wanted to see. It is not the best views, but it was also cheaper compared to everything around it. Room was clean, and very large for the price.

Next to the main station (SMN Firenze)
Lovely hotel a 2 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Station, lovely big room and what's looks like a newly refurbed bathroom, the room was clean upon arrival. The only issues were the WiFi wasn't great at all and the room was quite cold at night - most likely due to the room size and only one small radiator. Overall very nice hotel. Check in was a bit odd as the hotel is actually situated on the third floor of a building so you have to be buzzed in from downstairs and then take a lift to the reception. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, showed me to my room also my adaptor for my phone charger wasn't the right one so the staff actually lent me one (free of charge) to use during my stay. Also the area is good for quick food and easy shopping, a bit of a sketchy area which is to be expected around train stations. Hotel is right next to a Supermarket which was brilliant for nessecities (water). Also the hotel was only around a 15/20 minute walk to all the major monuments and tourist attractions, so you get to exprience some of Florence before reaching your designated sightseeing for the day. Tea/Coffee making facilities plus fridge available in the room and a TV but only Italian channels available.
