Good 6.0
Horrible service
We booked this hotel for 9 days and paid for it upfront. We arrived late after a long flight and the reception staff requested we pay for the tourism tax I explained I haven't changed enough money yet and would pay in full in the morning when we exchange money. He insisted on us paying so I said we will pay 20DR for tonight's stay and the rest the following day. We went up to our room really tired and really hungry I called room service and wanted to place an order for a meal before we sleep only to be told it can't be added to the room and we must pay up front before receiving the food. I was shocked and appalled that a 5* hotel would require guests to pay upfront baring in mind it was only the first night and we had paid for 9 upfront. We slept hungry! the pillows were those of a 1* standards it was literally a pillow case so I called the reception and requested four additional pillows we were told we are only allowed two. They didn't make a difference and the nights sleep was really uncomfortable. The aircon was also not working properly. The following day we went out and exchanged money and paid the tourism tax in full. I asked if I could file a complaint instead of explaining the complaint procedure he decided to become defensive and went on to explain that all 5* hotels are like this insinuating that we don't usually stay in hotels so we don't know. We stayed in this hotel for one night and the 8 nights was spent in a friend's house. Never again!

Good 6.0
Great Hotel but started off with a bad taste
I arrived at the hotel around 10pm from a 7 hour flight and took the metro to get to hotel. I was next to be checked in, when a staff member asked me if i have stayed here before. I said no. So she escorted me and my friend to the 2-3rd floor to check in were she said their elite guests check in. She left us with a another staff. Just as i thought we was done, the staff member asked for a security deposit. I was very surprised as my stay with expedia was already paid off (excluding tourism tax). He calculated it to be 300 dirhams (£64) a night for an eight night stay equalled to 2400 dirhams (£512). We was very shocked as our stay was not even costing that much. I found it totally ridiculous and questioned it for couple minutes. He kept insisting but when i refused to pay. He let go and said i must pay the tourism tax atleast. So i paid the tourism tax which is standard. The rooms were amazing, very modern and spacious. I did ask for a room with a view previously via email, but they gave me one that was still decent. Housekeeping did an amazing job with fresh sheets and amazing attention to detail. The location of the hotel was very good with a local 24 hour supermarket next to it and metro station a couple of feet away. The check in experience started my trip off with a very bad taste. I felt very uncomfortable staying in this hotel after this. I will not be staying or recommending this hotel to anyone because of this. I am very disappointed.

Exceptional 10.0
Very nice and modern hotel with friendly staff.
From the moment I first stepped into the property I felt a welcoming experience that lasted the entire stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful in every facet & position at the hotel. The staff would remember me and occasionally joke around with me during the stay. After a week of going in & out they had remembered me and it felt as if they were sorry to see me go when I finally checked out. I came to visit on tourism although I was quickly aware that this hotel catered to international business clients because of it's close proximity to the World Trade Center, regardless I felt just as comfortable entering and leaving wearing my sunglasses and cargo shorts. Dates were always available at the entrance however the Coffee was only there about a quarter of the time I would pass through. The room was very nice and comfy and the room service did a good job. Also the pool area on top was inviting and the fitness center had enough machines & space in there to work every muscle group. There wasn't much within walking distance of the hotel, however because of its central location it was easy to get a cab to go anywhere within Dubai. I had a fantastic time and I would like to thank the staff for doing a wonderful job & making me feel welcomed throughout the entire stay. Definitely would stay here again.

Exceptional 10.0
Excellent 5 star service from the moment we arrived to the moment will left. We were greeted warmly by Mischak who directed us to check in and took care of collecting our bags and delivering to our room promptly. Madelyn at the check in desk was courteous and knowledgeable answering all of our many initial questions about Dubai. Everybody at the Concierge desk was also quite helpful with info about times business were opened closed etc. being as we were there during Ramadan. Also helpful making reservations for us and making sure we were informed about our scheduled tours and activities. I would like to extend a special thanks to the restaurant staff. We were pleasantly surprised at how well all the guys took care of our every need at Feast restaurant. They were so friendly and patient explaining all the different food items available that we were not familiar with. They truly made our stay extra special. We will never forget Ali, Fasil, Riaz, Ranuka and Chander. As silly as it seems, they feel like family now. I wished I could put them all in my suitcase and bring them home with me. Lol. We loved our stay at Sheraton and Dubai on the whole. We are already looking forward to coming back, hopefully in 2020 for The Expo.

Poor 2.0
Horrible check in - forced into smoking room
Upon checking they tried to mislead me. The lady says "I see you're indicated a non-smoking room preference" and then she wanted to give me a smoking room. I quickly stepped in and shut her down that I booked a non-smoking room. Then she tried 2x to put me into a smoking room, until I told her that due to medical reasons I cannot go into a smoking room. At this point I got an upgraded room at my 2AM check in, asking me to move out in the morning to another room. This was a horrible experience, I have never seen a hotel kicking me out due to their own fault from an upgraded room and certainly have not seen any hotel forcing me to go to a smoking room because they have not had the non-smoking room class of reservation available (but did have it one room class higher!) Then again, during my stay I had to talk to them 3x that I opted for the Green Choice. I still spent 30+ minutes upon check out arguing with them. After leaving the hotel they gave me 10K points for the Green choice related inconvenience, however no apology for trying to force me to a smoking room, and the subsequent room switch I had to undergo. Nice effort, however my review rating does not change and cannot be bought. I'm going back to the same hotel in 4 days (had it reserved already)...the GM is welcome to come and talk to me in person.
