Choose another hotel!!!
If you’re thinking of booking this hotel, I suggest you do not. While the rooms are clean and spacious and ours offered a wonderful city view, that is all I am able to say was positive. I have traveled and stayed in good hotels and not so good hotels and I have never stayed in a hotel that has no bottled water. Water is not a luxury item it is necessary. We arrived none tired from being out 14 hours, we wanted to order room service and go to bed. They have a wonderful menu and 50% of it was not available. No seafood, no pasta, no pizza, no soda, no wine, no water, every time I asked for something they were out. So what do you have? Lemonade, burger, chicken, fries. My sis is non dairy pescatarian. Basically all she could have was fries and lemonade. The coffee was so clear I could see through it in a glass mug. When I ordered a glass of Rose at the bar the firs night, it was hot, so was the white wine, so instead I opted for a glass of Sparkling Rose. I never got it, it took 30 mins for the “bartender” to google what kind of glass to serve it in, leave to fine a flute, return, google again and pour ice into the flute to cool it in order to serve it. By the time all this was figured out my ride had shown up an I had to leave with out it. Staff is not trained in how to treat a paying guest. There is no sense of urgency, and absolutely no excuse for a Hyatt to not have water. Our complaint fell on deaf ears.

Hyatt trash not Hyatt place
So we arrived the hotel around 11 am and apparently checkin is at 3 pm, the front desk looked like a help desk at a mall so I asked if this was the reception and the staff looked at us like are we really here to checkin and a weird condescending answer for my question. She said it was $50 dollar charge to check in early and I told her we were leaving to the airport at 4 am if she can do anything as we just wanted to drop our stuff and head out. She said they can hold our luggage and we can come back later but I asked for a safety deposit box to place valuables and was told no we don't have one at the front desk or back office and you have to pay the $50 to get to the room to use a safe. I gave her a $100 and she gave me $45 back and I told her you shorted me $5 she said "oh that is tax, don't you know you have to pay tax" with a rough attitude. " if you gave me a receipt with my change I wouldn't argue but with your unprofessional attitude I have the right to question " is what I responded Till I checked out I never received any receipt nor was I going to continue to argue with stupid people The hotel is in the middle of the city with a lot more hotels that are better priced and friendlier service.

Exceptional 10.0
In Panama for 4 nights
The Place has a great location near the Metro stop. Near good restaurants walking distance BUT for the American Tourist it may look dingy in some sections of the street the sidewalks are not even and actually dangerous specially at night . The hotel is in great repair and the staff very welcoming. Hotels.com reservation gets no breakfast and you can add on at $10 Dollars per day and is NOT worth it. If you become a Club Member while you make the reservation then you get the Breakfast for free. There are a few places to get a lot more for $10 Bucks near. There are also guest fees I was told.

Very good 8.0
Its a nice hotel, very clean and comfortable. AC is very efficient and silent. We had asked for a crib for my baby. When we arrived to the room the crib was not there. After asking it to be placed ,it took them almost 40 minutes to do so and when it arrived it didn even have a mattress. They said they dont have one for the crib. The phone was broken when we stayed there so I had to go down everytime to ask them for something. The hotel is not bad, just need to pay attention to certain small details.

Excellent base for exploring Panama City
I went to Panama City for Thanksgiving weekend to escape the usual turkey fare at home. The Hyatt is centrally located, making it easy to use as a base for exploring. You can head straight South to the ocean front and stroll along the relatively new pathway there. Or you can head a half block North to Iglesia del Carmen with eh metro stop and Cangrejo just across the street. Also some fine restaurants within walking distance also. Since the trip was short, we arranged with reception a 6 hour private driving tour. Our driver Victor was delightful, begin both informative and accomodating. We stopped first at Miraflores to see the canal museum and the canal in operation. Then across the Bridge of the Americas for a nice photo op. Then out the causeway to the Gehry Biomusuem. Then a drive thru Casco VIejo to see the massive transformation happening there. And then finally all the way over to Panama Viejo to see the ruins of the very early Spanish settlement. The rooms were modern and clean, The breakfast buffet is expensive but provides a variety of fresh fruit and an omelette station The reception staff was always helpful and pleasant. The only glitch was a couple of misunderstandings as to whether we were to pay the drivers directly or pay thru the hotel. Tip: Have the Hyatt arrange a car service to and from the airport. It is only a few dollars more expensive than a regular Taxi and the driver meets you outside customs with a sign bearing your name.
