A really Fab find!!
This place was an super pleasant surprise! Such a funky environment, great area to explore and just a casual stroll across millennium bridge to st Paul's. Our room was great, super functional and the bed was unbelievably comfy... so much so my husband emailed the manufacturer last night to ask about getting a similar one because he hates ours 😂. I travel weekly for work, often away overnight, CitizenM will now be my Go-To choice if there's one about. We stayed here this time when in London to see Bon Jovi at Wembley, we looked for reasonably priced places off of the 24hr jubilee line. It was a casual less than 10 min stroll either end of a 35 min tube ride, really straightforwards. There is 24hr food and drink available at the "canteen" at Citizen M and we ordered a pizza which any restaurant would be proud off and I had a piece of red velvet cake which I was still talking about 24hrs later... Admittedly I don't eat cake often so it was a bit of an "event". Oh and lastly, the CitizenP.M shower gel provided was ridiculously scrummy smelling... if they sold it, I'd have bought a years supply.

Modern Hotel, Great CitizenM Attitude!
This hotel was fun! It has a self check-in, which allows you to "pick" your room (city view, etc.). There is a person/people available to assist you with self check-in if necessary, but the screens are pretty user friendly. The rooms are fun, and filled with "CitizenM says" humor found everywhere throughout the room. The room is small, bed stretches the width of the room, and the space is well utilized to make the room feel bigger than it is. The room has an ipad that allows you to customize things such as mood lighting, blinds, lights, TV, etc. (There are normal light switches and remotes too, if technology worries you.) There was construction right outside our window, which meant no sleeping in - even if we wanted to. But if the construction wasn't there, the room darkenling blinds and a shower with the CitizenM PM soap would have been enough to allow anyone to sleep, regardless of the time of day. We had someone meet us at the hotel, and the friendly staff even assisted her to find out whether we had checked in or not, and showed her to seating in the lobby! The hotel has a grocery store across the street, and is within walking distance to the London Bridge train station (8min walk), Borough Market (8min walk), Globe Theatre (5min walk), Tate Modern, the Millenium Bridge, and many other gems. There are a few restaurants and pubs quite close too. Checkout was easy too! All self-checkout... and the room key is setup to be a luggage tag when you leave. All great touches!

Poor 2.0
Hot Cramped Shipping Containers with Fake AC!
We stayed for 5 nights in August and it was one of the most uncomfortable stays I've ever had in a hotel, never mind a '4 Star' Hotel! The rooms are smaller than the 2 Star Premier Inn next door, with sealed windows and Fake Air Conditioning. I was looking forward to staying in a Classy London 4 star hotel with stylish fittings, a chic staircase and a hip modern attitude. 4 Star??? I have never been so disappointed since the finale of Game of Thrones! Good Points: Most Staff tried to be Helpful, especially friendly at the bar. Balloons & Card well received. Shower pressure was reasonable for the Top floor. Towels changed/Surfaces wiped daily. Good Blackout Blinds and Soundproofing. Loads of TV channels & free movies Free Cushion Style Cuddly Toy. Additional Bad Points: Repeatedly woken by cleaners knocking on the doors in the morning - no tag to say staying another night! Just 6 Hangers + small shelves to store clothes - or just live from your suitcase in the Large Drawer under the bed. Lighting is very poor for shaving. The room could use a full length mirror. 5 Nights of Poor, Restless Sleep. Had to run the Shower on Cold to cool the Room. Sweating in bed, sticky uncomfortable. iPad Room Control - time wasting and fiddly, especially in the dark. Sheets only turned down daily - never changed. All in all I cannot recommend this Hotel as a 4 Star! I've had more comfortable stays in a £30/night EasyHotel - They have Real Air Conditioning!

Good 6.0
Very fashionable lobby and hipster vibe, but they prioritize cool factor over comfort. A few examples -- platform bed was too firm, duvet cover with no additional top sheet, no washcloths, no reading lamp (just a bedside table light that barely shed light on anything), two types of shampoo (!?) but no conditioner in shower, very narrow shower/toilet combo like you were in a ship cabin, etc. The iPad for the "Smart Room" wasn't that smart -- I set the alarm every night and every morning it decided not to go off whether it was plugged into the charger or not. Luckily I woke up at a reasonable hour anyway, but if I'd missed a work meeting I would have been angry. I'd rather have a comfortable pillow-top bed with an actual box spring than be able to change colored mood lighting in my room. Location-wise, it was near the Tate Modern, but little else. The Southwark station is about a 10-minute walk away, and I used the Tube frequently to get to other destinations. So if you want to hang out in the lobby all day drinking overpriced lattes, then citizenM is a must. If you like a few more amenities and space then look elsewhere... Next time I'm in London I think I'll try another hotel.

Trendy hotel, great location
I fell in love with this place the moment I walked through the doors. It's just stunningly beautiful and modern. Their kind staff were standing by to greet me and show me how everything worked. I had to switch to there from another hotel at the drop of a hat due to circumstances beyond my control, and they were ready and willing to help. I was so relieved by the ease of it all. The room I got was probably the smallest available, but it was so comfortable and luxurious. Huge bed, cute little bathroom and shower. Hardwood floors which I happen to love anyway. Tiny side table and desk that were just enough for me. Everything is controlled by iPad (room temp, tv, lighting, etc) which I found to be convenient, but may be a hindrance for the less technologically-inclined. Oh and the bar is just fantastic, great drinks and amazing atmosphere. I'd go there even if I wasn't staying at the hotel. My friend and I enjoyed it a great deal. I would highly recommend this place. I was sad to leave. Part of me wishes I could live there, if only it'd had a tiny little kitchenette. It's a close cab ride to the Eye of London, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and St James Park. Lots of good eating spots around there too. The Table is just a five min walk away for a great brunch.
