Discriminative Customer Service
Upon our stay, my partner notified me that the key card for our room was not working. We both approached reception to be served by a gentleman named Vincenzo. In the presence of others who were checking in/ checking out at reception, Vincenzo asked my name, room number and then asked me for a form of ID. I told the gentleman the details and notified him that my ID was in my room at which point infront of all people stood at reception he told me abruptly that he will not give me the card until he’s seen my ID and he would take me to my room to see my ID. I felt increasingly embarrassed and ridiculed infront of other people stood at reception. I was made to feel like a criminal having paid £960 for a suite. Not wanting to create a further scene, I complied with the gentleman’s request and let him escort me to my room. Not once was I prompted that this was normal hotel procedure by this gentleman but I was instead made to feel like a criminal. On the other end of the spectrum, upon check out, I noticed £96 invoiced to me for alcohol I had not ordered. When I told this to reception, they insisted to show me the receipt that I had signed! When they failed to find such a receipt, I was told that it was a mix up in accounts! Maybe they should have used the correct security measures here and checked my ID to make sure I did order the room service! Avoid this hotel. After paying £960 for one night, I was left in tears due to their customer service.

Exceeded Expectations - superb stay
Although only a short stay, the attentiveness of the staff and superb signature suite (London Suite) made this feel like a much longer break. The food is exceptional - we've had the good fortune to enjoy lots of fine hotels world-wide and I was astonished to find dishes that could surprise me they were so delicious and somewhat unique. Whilst I always enjoy a good meal - I didn't think I could still be surprised! Also excellent quality of ingredients and fine presentation. Nothing is too much trouble service-wise - but do be tolerant, as just occasionally there can be a small language barrier with some members of staff which made me question a couple of attitudes initially, until I realised that it was purely misunderstanding. All in all the staff are wonderful, the ratio of staff to guests is the best I have come across, even compared to 6* in Dubai or 5* Maldives settings, and they are well trained and proactive. Cleanliness and maintenance exceptionally, as is the luxury of the fittings and fixtures we used. The suite was divine. We were able to check-in slightly early, but enjoyed the lounges, service and food beforehand and were called on our mobile once the room was ready. So no interruption to enjoying our stay and no hanging around in a reception. Valet parking was also slick - completely seamless deposit and return. They made a fuss of us for our Anniversary and we were treated like VIPs wherever we went.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT
To whom it may concern - I stayed at your hotel on the 22.3.18. I booked the deluxe king city view room which I chose due to the pictures/description of the room and was left disappointed as when booking the room I booked it due to its main feature the bath near the window as it was my anniversary and I wanted to make the night as special as can be. We was given a room that was tiny nothing compared to the pictures or descriptions given! It was only after we complained we were in the wrong room they apologised and moved us to another room which was still not the room we wanted/paid for. We was then told some rooms don’t have baths near the window so I’ve noticed that a main part of your selling technique is false advertising. I personally think because I went through a third party (Expedia) I was not given the same level of service I should of if I went through the hotel it’s self. Overall my whole experience was ruined and this left my girlfriend in tears, we certainly didn’t receive the 5 star service as promised and will definitely wont be rushing to return in-fact doubt that will ever be a option. So I would just like to say thank you very much for putting a downer on my anniversary a night that was meant to be so special to us both.

Absolutely amazing hotel and experience. A lot of thought has been put into making every bit of the experience luxurious. I requested a bath with a view and got an amazing room and bath with a view. This was by far the most amazing hotel stay experience of our lives. The staff were friendly and attentive, the pool was nice and the bed comfy. You could practically stay up all night just looking at the view. The only feedback I have (and I have seen others have mentioned the same before) is that the staff/room service need to knock/ring properly before entering the room. We were asleep at 9AM and I think the housekeeping staff expected the room to be empty and pushed the door bell and immediately entered the room. They did not even wait 1 second after ringing the bell before attempting to enter the room. When she saw us, she said sorry and immediately left. I was too asleep to actually see who it was. I mentioned this during checkout and I was told (I think by Felix, Junior Manager) that they have a 3 ring policy and the staff are supposed to ring three time with plenty of notice before attempting to enter room. This did not happen and this is definitely not a first occurrence as pointed out by other reviewers. This is unacceptable and Shngri La needs to urgently address this so it never happens again. Other than this, this was a perfect stay and I will gladly return again.

On Expedia the iconic city view room for 1000 dollars is showing a picture of a bathtub next to glass window with a beautiful view. So I booked it. The priemer shard city view room is 200 less for the same view but there’s was no availability. So I end up pay around 1200 USD for 1 night for the iconic shard room city view to have that view from my bathtub. When I got the hotel I was told there is only 4 rooms available - they don’t have the bathtub with the view available and this type of room is subject to availability. This should be posted on all booking sites so that guests should know they are not getting a room as shown in the picture. This is a rip off. I spoke to the manager and I got a very small room and a tub with half of the view for 1200. Since I booked on Expedia the hotel said they are not resbonsible. At least I should have been refunded the difference in the room pricing since I got the smaller room. I could have paid 400 less and get the same room. - there is no complementary champagne when checking in - My bags was lost for a few hours because they put it under the wrong name - the bar on the 52nd floor - they had no food on the menu. We tried ordered the salmon ceviche but they were out of food. How can a international hotel be out of food. - great hotel great staff but they not clear about their rooms and availability.
