Prepaid room"suddenly"unavailable duringlate ck in
I prepaid for my triple room through hotels.com (£133.64 reduced to £115.82) for a stay on 02/11/16. I selected a slightly more expensive room so i would have plenty of room and so I could continue working on the computer desk and sleep in a double bed also needed access to the stated amenities Instead imagine my unpleasant shock during my 19:30 arrival at check to discover AFTER chit chat and small talk and after I was made to complete their guest registration card that there was a problem with my prepaid guaranteed room due to emergency electrical faults effecting three of their rooms and that sadly there were fully booked!!? Question, why on earth was I not informed earlier I checked both my personal and business phone as presumed they'd have contact details either through hotels.com or my direct contact details that were provided to them upon booking confirmation - there was no missed call, they had made absolutely no attempt to reach me instead could only be offered a room at neighbouring hotel. I was extremely tired felt unwell and with reluctance had to accept what choice did I have?! It had a stagnant smell of cigarettes room 44 on top floor a twin and the single metal bed-frame was creaking throughout the night at the slightest movement. Wall was badly damaged above plug socket. No hair dryer, no ironing facilities, no desk to work at, no coffee making facilities beige transparent curtain extremely thin walls kept drifting in and out of consciousness-nightmare hotel!

Thin walls and neighbours who had no consideration
The hotel is a typical Kings Cross - room only facility. Unfortunately I was in room 9 - with VERY noisy neighbours in room 8! Which spoilt my experience

Good place to lay your head.
The room was compact but had all the amenities we needed. Closet, safe, beds for 3, kettle, and washroom/shower facility. The bathroom was super tiny and could really have been cleaner. Didn't like picking out other people's hair in the shower when I first got there. Bed linens were very clean and in good condition; towels were lovely and thick. Big TV, not that we needed it. And the decorator had done a good job. Room was quiet, except for the family of pigeons outside the window. This was an issue in the morning as there was no air conditioning, so you needed to keep the window open to cool the room. The central location of this hotel was excellent. With King's Cross right there it was just a hop and skip to anywhere we wanted to be. The small park in the middle of the square also had potential though we didn't have time to sit and enjoy. Management was very helpful with arranging a taxi; even coming to check and then arranging a substitute when the first one didn't work out.

Horrible experience with this hotel. The room was tiny and there is no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom (sink, toilet areas), so the floor is always slippery with water. Also, the room was only cleaned every 2-3 days during our stay and only after reporting this to the manager. Trash was not cleaned; sheets not folded; no new towels.

Clean, quiet, convenient
Clean, neat, no-frills hotel, extremely convenient for Eurostar terminals and trains from St Pancras and Kings Cross to the rest of the UK.
