Well...good enough
You got what you paid for! It's a hostel, not a hotel. Good deal but don't expect too much.

The website did not warn that the hostel is above a nightclub. So there was unbearably load music until 3 am. No a/c it felt like it was 100 degrees in the room all night. I left a day early I could not do another night.

The reservation specified that the booking included a continental breakfast, but there were no muffins (that is all that is offered) available on 2 of the days we stayed there. The conditions of the ladies bathroom on the 3rd floor where we stayed was unacceptable. The main door didn't close properly and 1 of the 2 shower drains was consistently stopped up.

Great Option IF You Can Sleep Through Loud Music
It's a a hostel. Great option if you are on a budget...BUT you have to be able to put up with noise late into the night. Something got crossed in the wire with my reservation through hotels.com and they didn't have me in their system. The clerk tried to put me in their sister property (Cambie Gastown), but I told her that I specifically booked this one due to its location to my meetings. Thankfully, it all got sorted out in the end. I did read about the noise (e.g. loud music playing late into the night from the bar below) on the other reviews. I thought, no big deal, I can sleep through anything. On Wed and Thur, the music stopped at midnight. On Fri, it went past 1:30 am. I had no idea when it stopped because I fell asleep. So if you are looking for or need quiet time in the evening, don't stay here. You will feel and hear the music late into the night. The free breakfast is not really free. At the Cambie Seymour, you get a coffee or tea in the morning with a muffin. They also give you a voucher that you can use at the Gastown property for $3.50 CAD off of your meal; it's worthless at the Seymour. The muffin was nothing to write home about. Surprisingly, the bed was very comfortable. My roommate and I both agreed that it was an unexpected treat for a hostel.

Ideal location...
With accomodation prices in central Vancouver being exorbitant, Cambie Seymour Hostel is ideal if you're comfortable with basic accomodation. Staying in a two female dorm, I found the bed adequate & the room spacious. The hostels' location to major transport hubs was a plus, so too the fast wifi, the staffs professionalism & friendliness and free 'breakfast'. It is a tired hostel though & could use an upgrade, especially the washrooms (hot pressured showers though). Ok hostel for a couple of days. But note if you have a room facing Seymour St there is construction work occurring opposite the hostel (at time of t his review).
