Good 6.0
The hotel is modern, clean and in a good location in Melbourne. The downside was the difficulty checking in. I had paid online; and was able to provide drivers licence ID and evidence of other forms of identification. However, I did not have on me the actual physical credit card I used to make the booking. The reason for this is that i now don't carry credit cards with me - I use google pay. I was able to provide SMS and email receipts of my booking; could show my bank account details with the payment I had made for the hotel etc. But without a physical credit card was not able to check in. I just think the modern world is heading toward people no longer carrying cash and physical credit cards with them. I made the booking for the hotel via a mobile phone app; and paid via my mobile phone. I can't understand why there is the need to have a physical credit card at check in if i can otherwise provide evidence of my identity via a physical drivers license. With my phone, I should be able to tap to pay for the bond deposit on the room; and could input a PIN if further ID was needed. Unless i had asked for help from the manager, the staff at the front desk would have turned me away from my hotel booking and left me without a room to sleep in for the night. I just don't think it should be this hard in the modern world

Fair 4.0
Not what we are used to from the Sheraton Group
First we arrive and went we entered the room it was the size of a shoe box and we asked if we could pay for an upgrade which was accommodated. We then moved to a suite right above their terrace bar. Yes the room was bigger but we noticed it was right above the bar and as I am a light sleeper went to speak with staff who reassured me I wouldn't hear anything. I decided to have a nap Saturday afternoon which is something I rarely get the opportunity to do being a mum and working full time only to hear loud music coming from the bar after 1 hour of useless tossing and turning I decided to speak with you manager who was full of attitude telling me I should expect noise in an inner city hotel and that my room was usually sold for more ( I never asked for asked for a discount I paid what they told me to pay for the upgrade). He assured me all music was background music from now till 10pm maximum. On our return from dinner around 9:30/45 I noticed the music was even louder but thought I would wait till 10. I thought to put the television on but to my surprise the television didn't work and when I called down they said they would need to send some one up but as my husband was already asleep and they would wake him coming to fix the TV I refused and had no sleep till the music stopped thumbing much later that night. What a disappointment to pay for an upgrade and in reality to receive a complete down grade...

Very good 8.0
The staff have amazing customer service and the room was very clean but when we booked we expected a car park at the actual hotel (there isn't one and it isn't clear to go to the Wilson car park down the street) we also expected a heated pool, but it was barely warm and we also expected a spa, instead it is a 'whirlpool' which is basically a small, slightly warm pool with jets.

Enjoyable stay, great location
Had a good stay, usually stay at Sofitel but decided to try the Sheraton, it was good. Booked a "Traditional Room" and wanted to change from the King Bed option to the Twin Bed due to a change of plans as my wife couldn't travel and my son came instead. Several days before arrival (about 5 days before I reckon) emailed the hotel through Orbitz requesting the change and never received a reply although Orbitz advertises the hotel will reply within 24 hours - never got anything back. So about 3 or 4 days before arrival rang the hotel requesting the change and got told they couldn't guarantee it - that's ordinary considering the notice given and a 3 night stay was booked. I rang the hotel again a day before arrival and got told the same thing, no guarantees. Lift your game fellas. On arrival I again requested the change (4th time requested) and the nice lady at the concierge desk rang reception and confirmed the change was available. Room was nice, a couple of maintenance issues: one of the two doors on the mini-bar/fridge had 2 of 3 hinges broken so the door sagged and wouldn't close, should be an easy fix to replace or repair the hinges, this problem would be blatantly obvious to staff who fill the mini-bar every time the room is serviced. Seems a bit shoddy for a 5 Star hotel. Also the desk lamp had broken outer insulation exposing the two internal wires which had intact insulation - obvious safety risk that should be addressed (mentioned both issues on guest feedback form).

Exceptional 10.0
Good location.
I booked the Sheraton as it had special prices at the time of my travel. It is located near Bourke street and close to trams, all in the free zone. But it is just as easy, and often better, to walk around. I mainly walked down to the laneways for restaurants, street art and shopping. I also walked to the gallery which is on the Southbank. The best thing about walking in any city is how much can be discovered. Having said that, there are ample restaurants, bars, pubs and shopping around the hotel. I also became a member and received quite a discount for breakfast which was gr8. Breakfast was well stocked as is the case with most hotels of this caliber. However, there are plenty of options outside of the hotel for breakfast. It is really your choice. I was travelling alone so opted for hotel breakfast. The room was spacious and I went for an upgrade for a reasonable fee. Bathroom was excellent with a large tub and what looked to be clean and new facilities. You get free bottled water and there is actual long life milk in the fridge, also free. However, if u need extras the supermarkets are not far and there is a 7 Eleven on almost every corner. All in all, an excellent choice of hotel.
