An Most Unimpressive Experience!
Been to Japan multiple times but this is the most unimpressive experience I ever had! We booked for 2 nights with Lakeview & only to be told by the lady staff, room booked with hotels.com are only allocated on 1st flr, anything higher requires to pay extra. When we tried to make her understand we booked way ahead in Feb with request for high flr, she offered to show us room on higher flr on other wing. To my surprise, the room looks dim & gloomy with dark furnishing, far diff from the Lakeview room we ve booked. We couldn’t rationale why room booked with hotels.com can only be allocated on 1st flr, it just don’t make any sense. This is neither indicated on the room selection on hotel’s page too. With her limited english, she even refused to allow another of her colleague who can speak English to attend to us! The entire ordeal took us almost an hour & all I can conclude is that she puts guest’s patience to test! An service oriented staff wouldn’t “waste” precious time of guests on holidays! End of the day, there was not even words of apologies from her & with our patience running dry, we took our meals vouchers without any directions of onsen & etc. I would love to visit Lake Toya again, but would not stay at this hotel for the “unpleasant experience” we had. Your staff genuinely requires training & counselling!

Crab dinner with no surprises!
We booked for dinner with crab for the 2nd night. To our surprise, it is also being served in the same buffet dining restaurant. It is disappointing as the hotel’s official site featured crab serving in another Japanese’s setting restaurant. Crab served is not worth the much extra we have paid! This is the normal buffet dinner + one crab & that’s all! Sashimi quality are disappointing too!

4/10 Fair

Cation: Make sure to register all your people staying! Horrible check-in experience! I was about to be charged double the room rate since I forgot to register my companion in my booking. Why should I be charged double for the same room. We selected no meal option! We negotiated the additional cost down to $85 per night. What is very frustrating is that the price listed for 1 guest booking & 2 guests booking were the same on Expedia but still the hotel demanded additional cost!

Great Lake experience
Great place to relax and sit back at a hot springs on a volcanic lake. Beautiful views, good food and great service. Staff went above and beyond what was expected of typical hotel. Will come back if we have a chance.
