Excellent Stay
This was our second stay at this Marais hotel, the first time being 20 years ago. It was once a 17th-century private town house, and the lobby was as welcoming and charming as I remembered. The room we stayed in was apparently once the attic because the sloping ceiling and gorgeous exposed beams caused us to stoop in places. But it was lovely, nonetheless, and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept on. The room was clean, but quite compact (not unusual for Paris.) The en suite bathroom, however, was surprisingly quite large – nearly the size of the sleeping room! The one tiny negative I might give is that the heater would not turn off all the way, so even though it was cold outside, it could be very hot inside. We kept a window cracked all night, which did help to keep a comfortable temperature. The breakfast, in a cozy remodeled subterranean cave, was just okay, but it was a convenient place to start the day and discuss plans while having a coffee, croissant and fresh orange juice via a self-serve orange squeezing machine. A side note: it’s best to arrive early because towards the end of the breakfast, the croissants have been under a covered bin for a few hours and are no longer crispy. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. If you are looking for Paris charm in a great location, I would definitely recommend Hotel de la Bretonnerie.

Marias jewel
Wonderful Marais location with many restaurants and shops nearby. It's an easy walk to the Left Bank and subway. The staff are very helpful and assisted us with police reporting when we had our backpack stolen. Good breakfast as well, in tiny cave like room.

The Best Hôtel!
The room I was given was on the 4th floor, and because I am disabled and require a cane, I felt it was too many stairs if an emergency occurred (they do have an elevator). Gregory arranged for me to have an incredible room on the first floor, a two story palace for 25euro more per night. It was well worth it as I was there for four nights, the longest of my stay in Europe, and I wanted to enjoy my room, which I did! The staff was great, breakfasts were delicious (first restaurant in Europe that knew how to make scrambled eggs and real fruit salad with cut up apples and such), neighborhood of Le Marais is wonderful, diverse, friendly, with plenty of cafés, markets, and entertainment within walking distance. Also, close to Notre Dame, the Picasso Museum, and other important sites. Love Paris, love le Marais, and love this hôtel!

Staff is great. WIfi is clunky and times out too frequently.

Not a bad choice as long as it’s not hot.
No air/con, and there was a heat wave in Paris so the fan was barely helpful. The place is old, small, but it does have a elevator. Not a bad value for the price though. WiFi sucks. Location is great.

Location, location
We, a retired couple, stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while visiting Paris. Location, location, location: it is situated on a narrow street in the heart of the busy, charming Marais district of Paris, a couple of blocks off the Seine and near the Hotel de Ville Metro stop. From Charles de Gaulle, the RER train to Chatelet means about a 12-minute walk to the hotel. The hotel consists of a compilation of ancient buildings with wood-beamed ceilings, tasteful fabric-covered walls and period furniture. There’s a lift, but there are still steps up and down between sections of what are considered to be the same floor. Our room was pretty, but small, with little room for one suitcase, let alone for two. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was disproportionately large. There is no AC, but they did provide a fan. The wifi was good, though inaccessible from the basement breakfast “cavern”. Like many European hotels (especially old ones), the electrical outlets are few and far between, so bring a multi-plug adapter. The breakfast was basic continental, although we did find out the last morning that eggs could have been ordered (not sure why it was kept as a secret). Restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping and entertainment are in full supply in the crowded neighbourhood streets, jammed with both tourists and residents. Walk almost anywhere or the Metro is never that far away. For location and charm, this is the place- at a price.
