Great basic hotel in a convenient and safe locatio
The location of this hotel is really good, within minutes walk to the famous Painted Ladies at Alamo Square and bus stops to other parts of the city right outside. It is also within walking distance to the Castro district, and far away enough from the rough downtown and Tenderloin district (which you should stay away from). The rooms are basic and cozy but sufficient if you are looking for somewhere to sleep and shower (and be out taking in the sights during the day). High praise for the staff who are very helpful and friendly (especially the young woman of Indian descent with glasses who was very helpful with giving me tips on getting to my tours early in the morning safely, and to help me find a store to get a sim card on my first day!). One suggestion: perhaps with the hot weather a small fan could be allocated to the rooms (it doesn't get too hot in SF but during my stay it was unusually warm and sunny, which is not a bad thing). SF is not a city where you will find reasonably priced accomodation and this is one of the few. Tip: ask for a 1st floor room if you have heavy/large amounts of luggage, as there is no lift (I was on the 3rd floor but did not have heavy luggage so appreciated a quieter higher level room)

4 day stay
First, the staff is tremendous. Responsive, helpful, and no waiting to have your questions answered. Also, the hotel was convenient for us, not too far from USFCA, the Panhandle, Golden Gate Park, Haight Street, etc, and was a block away from the bus stop. The room was adequate, but not ideal. We were on the 1st floor, and the hotel is on a busy street. Loud traffic will wake you in these rooms! Also, the bathroom was slightly slanted, causing the shower door to open unless you blocked it at the top with a towel. The room was clean, as was the lobby area, but the carpeting is old and stained. It was fine for what we needed, but is not high end.

Clean, no frills, great location
Clean, no-frills place to stay in a great location. I asked for a quiet room when I booked and did not have the noise issues others report. This ain’t the Ritz but it’s tidy, friendly, easy to get around, and has good lobby coffee in the AM. Not for heavy packers as there is very little room for much besides the bed, and few surfaces to put things. I would definitely stay again.

Noisy! Hot Room With Broken Window! Tiny!
You can hear everything in other rooms and above you! The rooms are dank and tiny. They are hot with no means for air as the windows are broken and don’t stay up. We resorted to using a tissue box to try and prop it open. The pillows are small squares of balled up material. We simply could not sleep there and asked to leave early and be refunded. They refused. We still left. If you want to sleep, do not stay here!

Room was right on the corner of a busy intersection. Windows are horrible so I could hear everything outside. I finally had to leave at midnight and stay somewhere else after I tried to deal with the sound.

Casa Loma, is situated in a nice location, easy access to transit. The hotel was tidy and clean, which is a major priority for us. The rooms however were very small and the bed was horribly uncomfortable and I am usually the one that can sleep on anything! #2touristsontherun
