The Westin Singapore

The Westin is in the financial section of Singapore and is really close to the Downtown MRT station. The rooms are lovely and the facilities good. We had a slight issue with the changing rooms for the pool being closed if the spa was closed but this was only small. The showers are excellent. There are three bars/restaurants on site. Cook and Brew is really nice gastropubs style food and the lounge makes nice cocktails with an amazing view. The Buffet restaurant was expensive, however the food quality was pretty good. The stay was really made amazing though by the friendly wonderful staff, the waiting staff area always pleasant and want to help to the best of their ability and this made an incredible difference over other hotels I have stayed at. Also we were celebrating and the Westin joined in by giving us a room upgrade, chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle Chilean Merlot. Excellent service above and beyond what we expected. The last thing I would add is to make sure you join the SPG loyalty scheme before you stay. It gives discounts off drinks and food and also means you receive free wifi. Overall and wonderful hotel and I will definitely stay there again.

Housekeeping failed to make up our room for no reason and just left a note that they stopped by. We were out till evening and don't see any reason why they can't do it? While we were at the pool, we decide to order some food and drinks from the club house. After 45 mins, they didn't come and had to follow up personally. Only upon that the staff on duty said that they couldn't serve any food by the food. Surprising, we saw many other guests eating by the pool. After they said no food after 6. And we ordered at 7pm. So it is completely illogical why they did not inform us at the time of order and left us to wait with no reply. When questioned, she just said she couldn't find us. Mind you, this is a 25m pool with no blockage, and only a few people in a pool. Seems like a sorry excuse. Won't return again due to poor service.

I’ve stayed in Westin hotel Singapore for such a long time whenever i had business trip to Singapore, so this was natural to me to make the same choice when I planned family trip. However, I was very disappointed this time. The house keeping was unable to provide normal baby crib supplies such as baby pillow or blanket that fit the baby cot size, so they could only provide a huge blanket for a king bed for us. Not to mention that the hotel forgot to provide a basic anti-slip mat on the bath floor to prevent small kids from slipping on the wet floor, and sadly this actually happened on my two-year-old girl and she hit her back of the head. Thank God that everything was all right eventually. In conclusion, Westion hotel Singapore is excellent for business trips, but for family trips? I will never make the same mistake next time.

Overall is good except: Around 9:30 in the morning, I went to lobby for breakfast wearing my room slipper. The receptionist asked my room number and said I have to pay because it is not included in the rental; sure I agree and he let me in and asked me to find any table available (he is busy with a phone conversation). After my first round, I tried to get some more food and bumped into the receptionist, then he told me that I should not wear room slipper to the restaurant; I said I didn’t know and didn’t see any notice .. then I went back to my table. Later about 3 minutes, a waitress approached me and said I can’t wear the room slipper to this restaurant and have to leave immediately and she emphasized this is instructed by her supervisor. I signed the bill to my room and left half-way of my breakfast unpleasantly. I violated their guidelines (I didn’t see though), they didn’t stop me when I was allowed in...but the way they handled was rude to their guests.

I stayed here for about two days and i have to say it was amazing ! we left this hotel and went to stay at the Marina Bay Sands ... Bad mistake :( .. The Westin was better in the sense that the quality was better and less people . Plus the location to the Westin is closer to China town , a Hawker center rite down the street , and the view was Awesome ! keep in mind we stayed in a ocean view room . But honestly , you felt the quality much better .. from the bed , to how staff treated you . It was more personal professional. At the Marina Bay Sands , I felt like a employee instead of a customer :( ... I prefer Quality over Quantity .
