Terrible breakfast - a shame in a pleasant hotel.
The hotel itself is fine. It is a pleasant boutique hotel in a good location. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms good although, if you ask for a bath rather than a shower, beware as, in the ground floor rooms, you have to go down a fairly steep staircase! UNFORTUNATELY, the breakfast arrangements are a disgrace. The breakfast room is very small and the staff are appalling. When we were there they were rude and spent time talking to each other rather than clearing the tables for guests like us arrived when the room was full. We were told we could not have breakfast until a table was available...which is fair enough. What is inexcusable is that the staff did not immediately clear the tables as people left so people coming after us had the same problem of dirty tables. The breakfast itself was at the lower end of acceptable for an hotel in the Michelin but the final stupidity was that my wife asked for a second cup of tea and was told explicitly that she would have to pay a further 4 euros in addition to the amount charges of 14 euros. She declined!! If you stay at the hotel, my advice would be to go out for breakfast

Good
Convenient for Gare du Nord
Chose because convenient for Gare du Nord (had to catch an early train) - probably the main reason to stay here. Was also very convenient for metro station (just outside hotel) and there's a reasonably good choice of eating places in area. There was a strange problem with room when arrived (no lights) which the hotel staff did their best to fix but limited because could not get appropriate technician. To be fair the staff were concerned and tried to help but the hotel was full so I had to cope with it - and they did upgrade me the following day so I'm grateful for that. Not sure how the star system works but no where near as good as other 4 star hotels I've stayed at. The breakfast set-up is not good - there are some great patisseries nearby so if you do stay here, just get a coffee and pastry at one of these. I often like wacky edgy decor in hotels but the decor at this hotel was really unpleasant. Who ever thought using QR codes as a carpet pattern was a good idea? An OK place but there are better.

Underwhelming
I booked an executive room for 3 adults approximately a month before my trip to Paris. We arrived to our hotel only to find out that our room was given away to someone else and they were only able to offer us a small room with a double bed - as we were 2 adults, this was not sufficient. The receptionist called the best western 7 minutes away (Best Western Premier Opéra Faubourg) from our hotel and they offered to take us and give us 2 rooms instead. When we arrived to the new hotel the receptionist said he is only able to take us for 1 night and we would have to move back to the other hotel for the 2nd night. As we were only in Paris for 2 nights, we didn't want to waste time checking in and out of hotels so I told them to find us another hotel. The receptionist made a few phone calls and ended up giving us the rooms in the hotel and offered free breakfast as well. Firstly, the reason we booked 1 room is that we wanted to stay together - it was unfortunate that we had to stay in different rooms. Breakfast offered was below average. The rooms were very very small. One of the rooms didn't have any mirrors except for the one on top of the sink in the bathroom (no full length mirror (?!) also, the hair dryer was not working. Overall a very underwhelming experience...

Decent hotel in the Gare du Nord area
I've now stayed at this hotel 4 times and while the first two times were AMAZING - the last two times have been disappointments. On our most recent trip, we booked a Superior Room and were given, of all our times at the hotel, the SMALLEST ROOM EVER. In the past when I've booked the Classic rooms, the rooms have been much bigger. Check in staff was pleasant but the check out staff (we forgot something in the room and had to come back to get it a few days later after calling the day of check out to ensure it was found and held for us) was not super friendly or inclined to help; luckily, we speak french and were able to compel the lady to actually look for the item/call the manager. We always come here when we're in Paris if we don't stay with family because the location is convenient and at this point we know it well. It's not the cheapest hotel in the area and after the last two experiences, I'm now unsure if we'll be back for future stays.

Poor
Horrible stay/missing item
We had a horrible stay at this hotel. The room was so small we couldn't even open one of our suitcases. Our bathroom was the size of a small closet. When we asked for a second towel as they did not give us two they questioned us why we needed two towels even though it was two of us in a room. I left a very expensive scarf and not even an hour after we checked out I tried contacting the hotel with no luck to see if I could pay to have the scarf sent to me. I have tried 3 times sent and have not heard back from the hotel. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
