8/10 Very good

Beautiful setting
Booked for 3 nights, but stayed an extra 5 due to a bad bout of Bali belly. Room spacious and clean. Shower drainage not great, but water pressure strong. No privacy for the bathroom, but was ok for us as mother and young daughter. Main pool beautiful, as are the hotel grounds. Smaller pool next to main pool has a lot of loose tiles. Not great for young kids. Spa lovely, had an amazing massage and ginger tea delicious. Room service menu basic but can order delivery. Location great and next to big supermarket and ATMs. Need to keep doors shut on balcony as lizards come in. Being among the rice fields was amazing. Staff friendly but some not up to 5 star standards. Overall a nice stay, but not same standard as other 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in (but you pay less anyway so all ok)

Where everyone needs to stay at least once!
Staying at Alaya was the best part of our trip everything about it is beyond wonderful, the resort is unique, it has an open plan that allows you to enjoy the outdoors while having your meal, it has rice fields within the hotel itself, the management and staff are some of the kindest, most helpful and polite people that you will ever meet. The rooms all have a unique hand painted mural by local artists, the toiletries are all made with local and wonderfully scented herbs. The spa is sublime!! The location is amazing, you have everything you need on the same street, and it’s surrounded by really wonderful highly rated restaurants if you’re ever in the mood. It’s also walking distance from the monkey forest, and a short ride by car to all the attractions in ubud, about 15-20mg s by car max. If you can stay there, do it, you definitely won’t regret it!!

Perfect location
Amazing location, very close to the Sacred Monkey Forrest, lots of nearby restaurants to cater for vegetarians and vegans directly opposite the Hotel or a short walk. Staff are always helpful and breakfast is never an issue getting a table. Massages at the Spa is really good and clean, you can go out elsewhere slightly cheaper. Gym is tiny. Yoga is held on a Wednesday and Saturday at 4pm for an hour. Ubud is very family friendly, safe and the people are nice. I would stay at the Alaya Ubud if I was to visit Bali again.
