Perfect location if you want to get your groceries
Tricia is so welcoming to receive us! She was chirpy on a cold summer morning and checked us in quickly. the room was upstairs I found out later from her (after checking out) that Queen beds are only available on the ground floor cos the Queen can't fit upstairs. We got a double bed and it was cramped even for us Asians. so do look out for details like Queen or Double. They meant different things! Kmart Coles and Shiploadss are just within walking distance. We shopped at Kmart and Coles almost every day (3 days) while we were there, Kmart is 24 hours and Coles opens from 6am to 11pm.. amazing! I realised we are located within the residential area and real people shopped here. haha. We ate at Fish and Chips at the waterfront, twice. once for lunch and the other dinner. not crowded not sure if its a popular local hang out place but we tried different fish. First time was the local Ling for fish and chips, the second time we tried trevalle (fantastic fish!) and flat head (Nothing to shout about) and loads of chips! It was a great place to be. we popped by Shiploads for some cheap Christmas deco. some snacks and drinks are sold much cheaper here than in Coles. There is a Chemist warehouse nearby too we got our Vit C supplies just in time. There is a washer and dryer you can use to wash ($3 per wash and $3 for dry) prepare $1 and $2 coins for use.

A wonderful stay in Launceston
When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and accommodation owner/manager of the hotel. Due to travel plan changes, we required to make two separate hotel reservations at the Elphin and consequently we were booked 1 night at a different room/apartment. The manager quickly accommodated us by changing the 1 night to the upgraded apartment which we reserved for 3 nights at no extra charge. The apartment was fully stocked with kitchen utensils and dishes. It was very spacious and clean. We found the location to be very convenient. There was a Coles supermarket across the street, a 5 minute walk to a beautiful city park where we saw Japanese monkeys in a state of the art facility. The city centre was approximately 15 minute walk and waterfront with a wonderful walking promenade was about a 20 minute walk. We will not hesitate to recommend this hotel/apartments.

Home away from home
Spent three nights in a three bedroom apartment. Nicely furnished and very clean with adequate cooking implements and utensils provided. Private courtyard that included a small BBQ Large bedrooms and large bathroom which featured a shower over a corner spa bath. The sheets and towels provided were the soft and fresh - Best in Tasmania!! Rooms are serviced - Even on Christmas day! Free Wifi, but it was a little slow or non existent at peak times. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Poor 2.0
this motel is in desperate need of renovations
it needs a major face lift, it is dark and grubby there is no outside seating or ashtrays should you wish to smoke . very noisey guests which had to be asked to quiet down by other guests rather than the management which where right next to them, a coat of paint inside & out and new bedding would make all the difference.would never stay there again overpriced for what you recieve.

Very good 8.0
Disappointing single room
Overall very good, but I had expected 'apartment' to mean a little more than a small hotel room. My single room was dark, under the stairs to the upstairs apartments and noisy with people tramping up to their rooms. Cars going past my bedroom door at night and headlights shone through blinds. Only a single lock onto car park so did not feel very secure either. That said it was clean, comfortable, convenient for food supplies and staff were exceptionally helpful, thank you. I think larger rooms looked much more appealing. Poor value compared with Hobart.
